Kayvon Webster won his district in both the 100m and 200m events

http://fl.milesplit.us/athletes/85052

Derrick Hopkins came in 3rd place in his district in both the 100m and 200m events.

Sterling Griffin won his district in the 400m event.

The top four finishes in the district qualify for the region championships. So all four signees will move on.

If anybody comes across results for other USF signees, please post them below. This way we can follow their progress through the State championships.

Lindsey Lamar won the 100 in 10.99, 200 in 22.65 and came in 4th in the 400 with 50.76. According to the article, he's been hobbled by a sore hammy, so I'd say those times aren't too shabby!

Thanks for the update on Lindsey. BTW, Kayvon Webster and Derrick Hopkins are also coming back from injuries suffered last month in the Bob Hayes Invitational .

Jacques now welcomes mat

South Broward football star finds wrestling helping his strength, leverage

It didn't take long for Jacques to realize how much wrestling helped him on the football field, but over time the sport grabbed him. With a scholarship already wrapped up, he didn't need to wrestle this season, but he continues to step on the mat. There was something about his first pin that hooked him. Looking back, he thinks it came against Coconut Creek. He knows it was his freshman year; he remembers being nervous.

"The whistle blew," Jacques said. "Somehow the guy ended up on his back."

That's all it took to convince the football player to stick with wrestling.

"If you can go six minutes on the wrestling mat, football is easy," Held said.

I doubt that Victor Marc who competes in the long jump and triple jump events made it through to the regionals, but he did receive a Scholar-Athlete award from the Brian Piccolo foundation. I figured that deserved to be mentioned here as well.

I wish you could post at the D1a level.  We aren't in the Metro conference anymore Smazz.
