Webster had two other teammates sign with USF, but said that factored little in the decision. He switched his verbal commitment an hour before the announcement because he felt he could play earlier with the Bulls.

"I felt like at South Florida I'm going to have a bigger impact as a freshman," he said. "They don't have too many leaders on their team, so I feel like I can go there and set an example."

Fine addition for sure. Not sure he should be saying that South Florida doesn't have too many leaders on their team....that's a good way to have a target put on your back coming in. Not that freshmen are ever derecruited by coaches or hazed by upperclassmen  ;)

Chose USF over Miami, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Syracuse, Florida and Auburn, among others.

I know that ratings are subjective...but that is an impressive list that is sweet to read...

We're losing a lot of leaders on defense so what's wrong with it?  I love this class because there are some real vocal leaders in the group, as well as being very confident (cocky).  Guys like Giddens, Juju Forte, Barrington, and Webster know their abilities and are confident in them.  That type of swagger will do wonders for our team and it's future.

I always feel bad for Among Others U. They never seem to be able to fill a team, but their always in the mix for some solid guys. Oh well, such is life.

Miami-Dade No. 6 Recruit | Kayvon Webster

LARRY BLUSTEIN'S COMMENTS: If you watch some of the top defensive secondary performers around the state of Florida, you would be hard-pressed to find a more athletic and impressive player who will certainly improve things at the University of Miami.

OOPS!  :D

That is very impressive coming out of the Miami area.

Anybody know if he can play cornerback? I'm still disappointed about losing out on Hosley, who I thought could've played as a freshman.  :'(

Leavitt thinks he can. He certainly has the speed, since he runs 4.4

I love this write up on him:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=58679&season=2009

Webster is the entire package when it comes to versatility in a football player. He has good size and actually plays bigger than his recorded dimensions. Impressive as a wide receiver, safety and return specialist. This guy has very good speed and a real burst when returning kicks and after making receptions. As a wide out he displays soft hands when going up for the football and makes tough catches seem easy. Can reach back to snag underthrown passes or turn his body to make a reception if he ball is thrown over the wrong shoulder. Demonstrates the ability to catch the ball in a crowd and keeps tremendous concentration on the football. Makes the ever important yards after the reception and is always a threat to take it to the house once he hauls it in. On defense shows he can be physical. Comes up from the safety position quickly on run support and short passes to the middle hook zones. Brings legs when making the tackle and drives through the ball carrier or receiver. Possesses excellent flexibility in the hips and can change direction fluidly. Has the speed to catch a play from behind and to flush the quarterback out of the pocket when on the blitz. As a return specialist is indeed special. Heads north and south immediately with the ability to make cuts on the run without slowing down. Reads his blocks well and has the ability to see past the first would-be tackler to anticipate his next cut in the openfield. Webster is one of those athletes that should play early at the next level because of his many and various talents. The toughest part for the coach will be to determine what position to put him.

It looks like he might be a good receiver as well.
