There is only 2 things USF can do about the basketball program

1) They can fire Stan Heath after this season and be prepared to offer something like a 7yr/28 - 35 million dollar guaranteed deal to one of the top Head Coaches in college basketball. You see only one of the the 5-10 coaches in the nation can come here and get the recruits that will turn this program into a winner within 2 years... that's about how long USF fans want to give a coach.

2)We keep Stan Heath and after the season Doug Woolard comes out with a strong statement showing support and a contract extention. Without that extention an already hard job of recruiting becomes even harder. That way recruits can that the schools is backing Heath. Then we let him slowly build this program up over the next few years as our facilities improve which should make the task easier. All are very important to the prospects that we will be recruiting the next few years.

Now those are the only 2 directions the program can go. If USF can offer a top college coach a record contract and he will except then the move to replace Coach Heath can be somewhat justified. Now if USF can't break the bank then we have to stay with Stan. We need to show patience and give him all the support that he's going to need these next few years to hopefully make something of this horrendous basketball program.

Other then that most of you are simply wasting energy complaining and writing nonsense.

I agree that this is more than a 2-year job to turn this around.  We know Stan can coach, the question is can he bring in talent to USF.

However, what happened that it looks like the team is quitting?  I think everyone can accept that it will take time, but they need to see the kids competing.  I want to see that problem remedied this season before seeing Doug throw a big extension at Stan.

I think we need to keep ALL the options on the table . . . . .

How much could USF save but scuttling the program before the school restarts?

Strange, I've yet to see a post or response by "Vega" that doesn't defend Stan Heath, whether the coach is being attacked or not.

no one was expecting health to start making the NCAAs after two years but atleast with RMC we were beating the Oral Roberts of the world.  Not losing by 20+ points.

we are paying him a lot more than RMC and it seems like we are taking a step backwards.

I agree with this... at least for now... and especially considering we will NEVER spend the monster money for a basketball coach.  We don't have it to spend.  This was a huge contract for us in terms of bball coaching.

So the answer is simple... time and patience.  Yes, we need to see fire and intensity from our players, and losing to these lesser teams is bad... but regardless, we don't have any options but to wait this out.

Actaully there are two other paths Vega.

We just continue on as we are and win a few here and there.  We are to BE basketball what Baylor is to Big 12 football or Duke is to ACC football.

We could get that one player that for what ever reason decides he wants to come to USF and turns out to be David Robinson or Tim Duncan or Larry Bird.
