Great point.  I actually had to gave a Rays hat to a girl at my dry cleaners who was wearing a Yankees hat.  She said she wasn't a baseball fan but thought that the Yankees were cool.  I told her supporing the home team is cooler and broght her a Rays hat the next week.  She says she hasn't worn the Yankees hat since and really likes the Rays hat. One at a time I guess.  I really don't get the students wearing gear of other schools on campus and especially to games.  That is just bizarre. 

The Yankees and Red Sox phenomenon is a national problem.  You see people all over the country turning their backs on their home teams to claim those teams as their own, because they think they look cool.   The same thing happened with the Chicago Bulls when Jordan was there.  The Mets had a similar bandwagon in the 80's.  The Cowboys and Steelers did as well.    Maybe in a few years the Rays will be the national bandwagon team.  haha

I live in new jersey a half hour from the city..

i'm just a student at USF.

my family lives and dies by yankees baseball.

if i'm not mistaken the rays have finished in dead last in the AL east every season since their inception.

you've got no room to talk

oh and the rays will never be a national bandwagon team, their hometown has trouble just showing up to support them.

saw the Rays LAA game today, HORRIBLE attendance at the trop.

well then at least you hate the Giants...though i'd say it's a bit of an odd combination

anyways...a lot of tampa fans (in general) take great offense to you not becoming a fan of their teams while others respect that you stay true to the teams you've always been a fan of

then you have the clueless: I wore a Mets hat to a Yankees-Rays game last season and the girl sitting behind me got all offended when I turned around and she saw the front of my hat and made a comment about me being a yankees fan...mind you back of the hat says "mets" and I'd started Yankees suck chants 5 minutes earlier

There's quite a large difference between being a Yankees fan now living in Tampa, and being a Gators/Seminoles/anyotherschool fan getting an education at USF. Call me crazy, but I doubt the Rays are providing his/her education

Im a Mets fan and been to about 10 home rays games and rooted for them every time.  Tampa needs transplant baseball fans to attend games because we all know they lack on hometown real fans.  Go to the general sports board to see my views on the "tampa" fan.  8)

Beef O'Bradys on campus?? Im getting old.
