While I would have preferred Chicago, I'm not expecting Smith to have a great year cause the line is weak.  I'm hoping they work to remedy it during the offseason.

Yeah good thing is smith is a back that's used to getting the rock a ton.  He should hold up well against the punishment hes going to take.

Yeah but carries against NFL defenses as opposed to carries against sissy CUSA defenses is a totally different animal ...

Very true.

Waiting for Gridiron God to come in here and slob up Kevin Smith and anoint him as the second coming.

the problem with fans are, some of them know nothing of what they cheer for.

Are kidding me Dozer?  His first preseason game and you are judging him.  Are you so upset that he was drafted first in the third round that you just can't handle the fact that he is a very good RB.  I have always compared him to Emmitt Smith because of his vision and quickness to the whole.  So to help you out Dozer I will list Emmitt Smith's first three game stats, these are of the real football season:

Game 1 - San Diego Chagers  - 2 attempts, 2 yards, long 1 yard - average 1 YPC - no receiveing

Game 2 - New York Giants -     6 attempts, 11 yards - average 1.8 YPC, long 5 yards, 2 receptions for 12 yards

Game 3 - @ Washington -        17 attempts, 63 yards - average 3.7 YPC, long 15, 2 receptions for 12 yards

Get the point Dozer!

I have made no secrets on my feelings about Smith since before the draft, good try at a strawman though. Also good job slobbing him right on cue.  Smith wont be a quality starter at the NFL level no matter how many times you try to compare him to the NFL's all time leading rusher (also lol at this comparison 24k cant hold Smiths jock and Emmitt also ran much harder than Smith does and had one of the best lines in NFL history in front of him).  You can try to pump him up all you want but dude has good but not great vision and not much else.  He lacks the ability to run as a power runner and the quickness and break away speed to be a homerun/speed threat.  But anyways ill leave you to look like a fool by mentioning an unproven rookie in the same sentence as the NFL's all time leading rusher.  Now back to your scheduled 24k slobbing.

Hmm, playing for the worst team in the NFL, with no passing game, poor OL yet he ranks 21st in total rushing yards, ranks ahead in yards per carry than Jonathan Stewart, Michael Turner, Marion Barber, Matt Forte LaDainian Tomlinson, Jamal Lewis, Marshawn Lynch, Ronnie Brown and Ernest Graham amongst others.  He has as many TD's as LT, Josheph Addai, Chris Johnson, Willis Magahee and more TD's than Matt Forte, Earnest Graham, Willie Parker amongst others.  His longest TD run is a 50 yard TD run, which is the same as Darren McFadden, so I guess he did not get caught from behind.  He has not fumbled once, not bad considering he has attempted 117 rushes and 27 receptions.  Oh and on the receiving side of the ball, he has caught the ball 27 times for 212 yards, which is 11 among all NFL RB's.

Once again, he did this with a horrible OL and one WR.

But the comment was about him never being able to make it in the NFL.  I think that has been proven wrong.

So a player is proven after less than a season?  He's been effective in two games and had one big run in another how about we let the season play out before we make snap judgments.  Even then we will have to wait till his 3rd or 4th season to make a defninitive judgment.  Smith is far from proven but if he finishes the season strong i will give credit where its due if he falters i expect you to be around as well  (like you were for the rest of the season so far....oh wait you were no where to be found).

Not sure what you mean, I have season tickets to USF not UCF and I was on the field for the Rutgers game.  Unlike many of you, I have no grudge against UCF and would love to see them do well as I do USF.  I am a Kevin Smith fan, like I am also a fan of Andre Hall and many USF players.  I only backed up my comments about Smith, he is improving every game, imagine what he could do if he had a passing game to take the men off the line of scrimmage.

Any USF fan that trashes Kevin Smith's production on that hapless team is a loser and doesn't know anything about football . . . . . . the dude can play.

Kevin Smith will be a solid back in this league for years.  Ways better than Andre hall already and a lot more potential.

USF fans just talk from the top of their head sometimes.  I remember people on here talking crap about the Jets for drafting Leon Washington (FSU) over Andre Hall.  Now Leon Washington will probably go to the pro ball as a return specialist and is a HUGE part of a Jets offense than has scored the 2nd most points in the nfl this year, behind the superbowl champ Giants.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
