This is HUGE!  Teeng shoots well enough to play the high post.  Plus, he is a feisty competitor, which is something we need.  Wow, two months ago I was thinking we would never get hoops going.  Now..... ;D

Remember this statement by Van Coleman?

The South Florida Bulls received a big addition in 6-foot-10 prep school power forward Teeng Akol from Bradenton IMG Academy (Fla.). He has all kinds of offensive tools and could be a poor man's Kevin Durant in college.  He's definitely a player that Stan Heath can build the program around if he qualifies this summer as expected.

Nothing is for certain, but nice to read something like that about a player your team has signed.

He's about the same size as solomon jones was during his senior year and Akol is a frosh.  Might not be big enough for NBA, but it should be fine for college.  And Jones was able to then add 10-15 lbs... so i'm sure Teeng will be in the weight room too.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
