Are you people nuts or what?

If you haven't seen the results of the widely popular Sentinel poll on orlandosentinel.com, allow me ...

We asked readers to vote for the best college football team in the state (I'm assuming for the upcoming season) and, as of Wednesday morning, we had received a hefty 31,826 respondents.

  Here are the results:

  1. Florida Gators (55.4 percent)

  2. UCF Knights (16.2 percent)

  3. South Florida Bulls (14.3 percent)

  4. Florida State Seminoles (9.0 percent)

  5. Miami Hurricanes (3.6 percent)

  6. Other: 1.5 percent.

  My thoughts: These results are ludicrous. I understand Florida being No. 1, but UCF being No. 2 is insane. The Knights were annihilated by USF last year, and they lose their superstar running back and their starting quarterback while USF returns its starting quarterback and many other top players.

  If you vote with your head and not your heart, here's how the results should read:

  1. Florida

  2. Florida State (or USF)

  3. USF (or FSU)

  4. Miami

  5. UCF
