I dunno much about this guy but when his high school coach is calling him a project it might be awhile before he see the field.

Regardless we have some great OLine pickups so whether he pans out or not doesn't matter

Yeah hes only been playing tackle football since 9th grade so the staff will have a lot of coaching up to do.  Also the way the coach mentions him it sounds like hes a tad over weight.  Hes a big kid with a big frame that will prolly take a redshirt year and then 2 more years to even maybe see the field.  Any chance this is a move to get in good with the coach out there to better our chances at an 09 prospect?

it sounds like they will all be projects though.  I hope we have some good O-line coaching

isnt any lineman coming out of highschool a bit of a "project"?  garvin is by far the most polished of the new lineman coming in, but all of them will soon find out how big of a jump it is from highschool football to big time ball.

Yeah pretty much all of them are.  The vast majority of OL's that have singed LOI will redshirt and prolly wont see the field for a few years.  The size, speed, strength, and technique they will see from collegiate DL's  is too much to over come for must kids to step in and play right away,  Offensive line is prolly the hardest transition of all positions IMO.

agreed.  youd pretty much have to be a freak of nature physically to step in right away from highschool.  either that or play at a much smaller school.

Simmonds should have these beasts up and running in a couple of years.  Lord knows we need talent/depth at this position.  Should be a strong line when Grothe/Ford are at the top of their game.

He's got good size. Probably a RT, I see Popek as our future on the left side. Bit of a boom or buster IMO though.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
