(AP) -- Connecticut football coach Randy Edsall agreed to a five-year contract averaging $1.5 million annually following a season in which the Huskies won a share of the Big East title. Terms of the agreement were confirmed Saturday by an athletic department official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal is not complete. The contract must receive state approval and is not expected to be signed for weeks, the official added. The agreement was first reported Friday by ESPN.com. Edsall had been scheduled to make $995,000 next season and just more than $1 million in 2009 under his current deal, which he signed in 2004. We better start paying Leavitt more. He is yet to win a share of the conference. What does 4-3 give you? So far mediocrity.

When we win the titles and get to BCS bowl games, then I have no problem with any increases bc the money being brought in is bigger as well as attendance is up and bowl payouts are bigger. But you can't keep hiking salaries when the pay outs aren't there as it is to pay the assts what you need.

He is worthy of a raise but should have a few more years in DIV I under his belt.I can understand that the BE wants coaches around for tenure, longevity, and stability....so I guess that equals more money. The fans will ultimately wind up paying for this though....just like w/Leavitts heafty raise.
