Kansas game moved to Friday 8/29?

Did anyone catch this in the Tribune today?

NEW OPENER? ESPN has approached USF about moving next year's home game with Kansas from Sept. 13 to Friday, Aug. 29, for television.

To do so, USF would have to move its current scheduled season opener with Division I-AA Tennessee Martin from Aug. 30 to Sept. 13. Kansas also would have to move its Aug. 30 home opener with Florida International to Sept. 13.

This nationally televised game could launch us into the top 10 (assuming Kansas keeps winning and we end our season strong) or push us out of the top 25 to start the season.  If this schedule change is made then there will be a lot riding on this non-conference game as it will set the tone for the entire season.  I like the TV exposure and this game should get some attention as the college football season gets under way.

they are young like us but they wont be able to throw up number like that on the O they are losing skill guys

they lose there senior RB McAnderson, 2 Senior WR Henry (there go to guy) and 3 Oline guys.

Yes, I saw the article this a.m. iin the paper.  

I don't like the idea, but consider this....if Kansas is still ranked at the end of the year they have a good chance of being ranked in early polls next year.  They would be playing without their easy warm-up game either.  While we do lose some great starters I believe that we get stronger next year than we began this year and Grothe will have matured more.  In other words, we could win early against a ranked opponent and once again set the stage for a run into BCS recognition with the difference being next year we are older and more mature as a team and stronger (I believe) at the skill positions.

Just something to think about.

Wow, the season isn't even over and we're already talking TV.

I wouldn't care if it was moved--I'm confident that we can beat them in Aug or in Sept.

I think there's a lot of work for it to happen, but it's awesome to know that ESPN wants us for the game.  They know they'll be a lot of hype for both teams again next year.

8/29 is a Friday, everyone would be watching. I like it. They will start the season ranked, it would be a good opportunity to fly up the polls earlier, then settle in at the top before conference play starts.
