Just to clarify so there is not misunderstanding.... the towel/scarf/bandanna is to be used a la Terrible Towel like the Steelers (i.e. swirling in the air)? If so, it might be nice to give the cheerleaders/sun dolls towels of their own to instruct when to begin doing this. Just a suggestion.

initially the bandanas are to be used to simulate what happens during the opening cermony of the actual running of the bulls in pamplona where they hold the bandanas up in the air and spread out.

like this bandannas.jpg

after that initial opening (when the team comes out on the field) im sure they will be used in the same fashion that the terrible towels are because that is pretty much the natural thing to do with a bandana/towel at a football game

I don't have to worry about it... but wearing a perminant wrist band all year will get old, smelly, and unprofessional at work.  Think about it, if games turn out like WVU for the rest of the year, you would have to camp out every Sunday night (or earlier??) and have to wear the same wrist band until the game at the END of the week!  I love the rest of the ticket policy and I am sure they will fix any of the issues that arise, but wearing a wristband for the entire fall term will be slightly retarded.

I love everything else that is happening though.  Even with the short notice, they are planning and doing a good job working on these things.  I'm impressed (with everything but the year long wrist bands!).

I'm not sure about the wearing the wristband the entire week idea, I'll try and find out more from the athletics office sometime tomorrow. If there is anything else please let me know, I'm trying to get the Oracle blog really going and I'll put things like this on the website that don't make it into the paper. Any suggestions/ideas/complaints please let me know and I'll try and clarify/remedy the situation.

LOVE IT! I hope the city of Tampa knows there will be a shortage of green bandannas today and tomorrow.

And so the Toro-Towels were born... (BTW, as others have mentioned...Boys from the South by P.O.D. ...it has that catchy refrain "HERE COMES THE BOOM!")  ;D

  • We're looking for a great energetic song (as we've discussed here in other threads) to play possibly between 3rd and 4th quarter. Student government and athletics is looking for some fun, energetic suggestions that they will seriously consider to roll out asap. Think Zombie Nation with Penn State, etc. Think original.

surely there is either some song roughly relating to tampa or some artist from tampa that could do this.  it would be best if it had some meaning behind it, instead of just some random "hype" song.

I agree; this would be fantastic.

didn't delbert alverado sing some rap song or something!

seriously, I'll throw boom by p.o.d. into the mix.  the second verse seems to have somewhat appropriate lyrics too.  something about rising to the top or whatnot.  or starting it at the 1:17 mark on that utube video floating around.    "Is that all you got, take your best shot, here come the boys from the south, boom!".  builds up and builds up, get the crowd amped up then play the beginning of "welcome to the jungle" by guns and roses (works at lightning games).

Dear web guys:

For those of you that know web pages and such. Maybe we can put together a quick website (www.Bulls-Traditions.com??) that has this clearly stated. We know that not everyone comes here and learns this stuff. I can imagine it would be a LOT easier to just send someone to a website that shows a picture of the bandannas being held up than trying to explain it to them. Plus, this could be placed into emails and such. Do any of you techy guys feeling doing this? Does anyone have any extra server space?

just an idea.

I love the suggestions guys - keep them coming. I'm sure Eric will be reading and will forward the contents.

Someone tell me where to get a green bandana tomorrow.. I'm going to buy all of them in the store, and give to anyone I come across at the game.

Not a bad idea. We could even do something simple and interactive such as blogspot or wordpress.

Or maybe just a subforum on this site? That way people wouldn't have to learn a new web address.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
