Until last season's opener, I was not a fan of 1-AA openers.

Since we almost lost to McNeese State, I am happy we're starting with Elon as well.

Now......sticking a 1-AA team in the middle of your schedule is another matter.

exactly

last year-- the Gators played 1-AA Western Carolina in the middle of the season. Gosh they must be terribly embarassed. Why they were so embarassed they felt the need to win the BCS crown to save face.

And in case you think that last year was a fluke in the schedule--- pan toward 2008's schedule where they play The Citadel (1-AA) on November 15th.

There are many, many examples of other big name programs doing the exact same thing with their schedule. Stop being embarassed by playing a single 1-AA team

its not uncommon to start out with a 1-aa school your first game.  its been that way for years...just look around the country.  and the teams that start out with tough openers usually have some fluff in their schedule mid season.

i dont have a problem with us playing these schools.

We've had 8 months to iron out kinks and settle position battles; this match up is embarrassing and is counter productive when trying to convince the naysayers that USF football deserves top 25 type respect.

#5 Michigan        14

Appalachian State 14

Just before the half its 28 -14 App State... (Defending Two-Time I-AA/FCS National Champions)

OH, and this is the FIRST TIME Michigan has played a I-AA team EVER.

I dont mind at all because it lets us iron out kinks and settle position battles before the season truly starts.

look at #5 mich...if that 1aa team had any more juice, mich  would be down by 30 now.

esp with a young team, that "easy" game is helpful.

Well, I don't think we have to worry about USF not focusing on the game tonight. If I were the Jim I'd have the video coordinators putting together some highlights of the Michigan game to show before they take the field.
