Why are the iconic U's on the players helmets facing with the horns pointed towards the face mask on some and away from the facemask on others?  ???

They all point in the same direction from a font script perspective.  So, they face differently dependent upon whether or not you are looking at the right or left side of the helmet.

ahhh..weird...personally I think they would look more uniform facing one way ie. both to the front of the helmet or both to the back

Every team has the same issue, unless their helmet logo is reversible.  Looking at the helmet in my home office, it looks alright to me...

How bout we discuss the BIGGER issue about our disgusting helmets? The fact that they are the wrong color gold and the logo is black for NO REASON whatsoever.

It's black for a reason.  You may not agree with that reason, but there is a reason: to make the Iconic U show up better on TV.
