World Series to start on a Wednesday

In an effort to boost sagging ratings for the World Series, Major League Baseball announce Monday that the 2007 Fall Classic will start on Wednesday instead of Saturday.

Talking about the ACC, it looks like they may be moving their football championship game from Jax and Tampa is one of the candidates.

It's ridiculous that they feel Jax isn't a "good city" for the game because of last year. It was probably the worst weather North Florida has had in December in years. Who would go out and sit in a stadium for 3 hours in the rain, cold?

Charlotte makes alot of sense for this game.  Really all but 2 schools (UM and BC) are in driving distance to Charlotte, so attendance shouldn't be an issue.  Neither of those schools travel well anyway, so it doesn't matter where the game is played.

But it's probably up to whatever city pays the most ... this is the ncaa  :P

It's the World Series, I am sure it will effect the ratings of the ACC game.

Wasn't our Cincy game during the World Seriers last year?  Or was it during a divisional?

We still choked =/

Baseball in general and the Red Sox in particular are very popular in New England. If the Red Sox are in the series there won't be anyone at the BC game

They didn't do well the previous year either with FSU in the game. I don't think Jacksonville wants it anymore...

Tampa had some of the highest ratings for SEC games last year of any market (that doesn't just include Florida games), I believe it beat Atlanta.

Reflecting on these numbers, the majority of the citizens in the region are SEC football fans first.

While USF is located here, Tampa still has a long way to go before being a "Big East" town.
