In the real world (not in mesage board land) you can only assess if someone is underpaid, is relative to their peers.  If a guy is making $1 million dollars and everyone else in his peer group is making $2 million dollars he is underpaid.  He may be making more than you are making, but it's not comparing apples to apples.

It doesn't mean he isn't making a good living, but compared to other coaches he is underpaid.

When Greenberg left he was at about $160k (maybe more) I believe, so yeah, RMc made $40k more.  Either way, it's a matter of perspective.

Here's a link to both of their USF Contracts:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/college/news/2003/06/02/contracts/#sflorida

Summarize:

Greenberg: $150,000 salary plus $50,000 in TV/Radio $$$$ plus extras.

RMC: $200,000 salary plus $50,000 in TV/Radio $$$$$ plus extras for 6 years guaranteed.

So, in reading this, and I am NOT a bball fan, almost everyone on this thread, and others I've read, the players were good enough to contend in the BIG EAST? If another coach had the EXACT same players, would he would be in the conference playoffs?

I know, another coach probably would've recruited differently, but we're talking about getting THIS team to play to their abilities.

GO BULLS!

FYI...if you haven't noticed yet...that is a HUGE part in predicting/achieving success in College Basketball.

One could be the greatest coach in the world...but if they aren't good at selling their story to HS kids, they probably won't last long in their position.
