To those who have written to inform me, I already know. But the equivalent of non-BCS in basketball is mid-major. And I hate the term mid-major if only because it can't accurately be defined. Honestly, what's a mid-major? Memphis is from a terrible league, but is it mid-major? The coach makes about $1.5 million per year and the team plays in a $250 million arena. That's hardly mid-major. Gonzaga is from a terrible league, but is it mid-major? The 'Zags charter flights and sell out every game. That's hardly mid-major. Bottom line, Memphis and Gonzaga -- along with Wichita State, Creighton, BYU, Utah, UNLV, etc., -- have high-major qualities, way more than Colorado (of the Big 12) or Penn State (of the Big Ten) or South Florida (of the Big East) or Miami (of the ACC) or Oregon State (of the Pac-10). And that's why you'll never see me use the phrase mid-major. Instead, I use BCS and non-BCS. Emphasis added by me. The one good thing about this article is that it confirms that Priscilla Presley is still smoking hot.

Guest Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 It may suck to hear, but he's right. Memphis would kick our butt this year.USF basketball is to the BCS what Duke football is to the BCS.Oh, and this isn't CBS talking bad about USF -- it's Gary Parrish...

The article just didnt single USF out they included Miami and other programs in there also. Miami has at least made the sweet 16 not too long ago under Coach Leonard Hamilton while they were in the BIG EAST. USF has not made the tourny since 1992. What other BCS school has a drought like that???
