If no CRM...then who???????????

It's not "who" but "how much." It's America: there's a price for everything.

I the key is to decide what attendance figures will yield a profit and what kind of a budget those figures will support.

If it takes 9,000 fans every night to support a $700,000 salary plus the assisstants' pool, then forget it. USF is not going to go into debt to finance men's bball.

Right now, I bet men's bball is losing money. But since the overhead is low, the bleeding is not that bad.

The question will come down to how much USF is willing to gamble in terms of attendance possibilities...

Your "who" for next year will tell you what USF heads decided in this matter: to roll the dice or not, and how much the bet will be.

Kirk Speraw.

Our admins mistakes could be your programs opportunities.

Again.  :-/

;D Thanks for the laugh.

In all seriousness, what about a guy like Matt Doherty? He has experience coaching in the Big East and he did quite well while he was at ND.

Sean Hanrahan, a familiar name in local college basketball, is in his first year as head men's basketball coach at Warner Southern College. The newest coach in the Florida Sun Conference comes to Warner Southern after five years as the first assitant at nearby Florida Southern, one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the country.

"I am very appreciative of every opportunity I have in life," Hanrahan said. "Warner Southern has had many great players and many successful teams. I plan on working effortlessly to be successful during my years at Warner Southern College."

Hanrahan was heavily involved in all aspects of the Florida Southern program during his five years there, from recruiting to the highly successful booster organization, the Sixth Man Club. While at FSC, he helped the Moccasins to a 102-45 record, two conference titles and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Mocs were annually ranked among the top ten defensive teams in the country, in both scoring average and field goal percentage defense. Former Moccasin's head coach Tony Longa credited his work in player development, individual workouts and strength training as one of the key elements to the program's success during that time. He was also instrumental in bringing in several top recruiting classes.

Prior to his time at Florida Southern, Hanrahan was on the staff of another local Division II power, Rollins College in Winter Park. He spent two years (1999-01) at Rollins, and played a major recruiting role in acquiring what Tars' Coach Tom Klusman said is one of his best recruiting classes in 25 years - a class that helped put the Tars in the NCAA Tournament in 2003 and 2004 and an Elite Eight finish. Hanrahan also played a huge role in making the 2000 summer camp for kids the most attended session in Klusman's camp history. In addition to being an assistant coach, Hanrahan was also the head strength & conditioning coach at Rollins for men's basketball.

Hanrahan received his bachelor's degree from Hanover College in Indiana, with a double major in psychology and physical education with a emphasis on exercise physiology and nutrition. While living in Orlando, Hanrahan ran his own business as a certified trainer.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Hanrahan played basketball at Hanover under Coach Mike Beitzel, the owner of over 400 career victories. During Hanharan's playing career, Hanover's teams were ranked in the top ten nationally for field goal percentage defense and all four years in scoring defense. He was also the president of the Big Brothers & Big Sisters program at Hanover.

Hanrahan played prep basketball for four years at Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati, helping lead his team to three district championships. During his junior and senior years, Hanrahan was a city leader in three-pointers made, points and scoring average and was named an All Conference player. He was an all-region selection as a senior and played in the East-West Ohio All-Star game.

A true student and teacher of the game, Hanrahan has attend and helped run 11 Glenn Wilkes/Nike Basketball Clinics over the last seven years. During the last three summers at the Michael Jordan Flight School he worked out 9 NBA first round draft picks, including 2005 picks Deron Williams (Utah Jazz), Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets), Sean May (Charlotte Bobcats) and David Lee (New York Knicks).

Currently 19-10 and plays in the 2nd Round of Conference Tournament today in West Palm Beach - I'll be there !

Doug Woolard will make a good decision when it comes time to hire our next coach. I also doubt he will give him a 6-year contract like our previous AD. That was LRS's lone mistake while at the helm of USF athletics.

How far ahead of our announcement of joining the BE was Mac hired? Maybe LRS already had a good indication that we would be joining and knew the monumental task ahead....

Perhaps....but how many 6 year contracts do you see doled out? Not many, and you usually see them given to proven coaches on a big stage.

A few have advocated Speraw for USF...but he isn't the splash USF needs to get the ENTIRE fanbase united and reenergize. However the man is VERY GOOD coach. He has charisma, has implemented a defense first mentality and makes the most of his resources in decent mid-major conference like the new CUSA.

The question with Speraw is if he can make the transition to a major conference situation. Many like CRM have tried  and failed. UCF would be stupid to lose him.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
