USF’S ARIS WILLIAMS TO MISS REMAINDER OF 2006-07 SEASON

Knee surgery sidelines sophomore forward

Tampa, Fla. (February 1, 2007) – Sophomore forward Aris Williams of the University of South Florida men’s basketball team will miss the remainder of the 2006-07 campaign following knee surgery.

Williams is expected to be ready for preseason workouts this October.

The 6-9, 235-pound forward had already missed 12 games this season with ailments to both knees.  Surgery on his right knee on January 18, 2007 ended his season.

Williams redshirted in 2005-06 after transferring to USF from Valparaiso.  He appeared in 10 games for the Bulls this season and earned a pair of starting assignments.  He was contributing 3.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 17.6 minutes per night.

He hadn’t appeared for the Bulls since seeing nine minutes of action against Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 31.

Poor guy, I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Things just keep on getting worse for our bb program. At some point, we have to stop distinguishing between bad luck and bad performance....Both have the same end result.

Time for a change,

Rueb

He would have maybe been a warm body at most. It sucks that he had his season end early but he didnt show too much upside when he was on the court.

Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and the it doesnt become a recurring problem.
