Rutgers misses BCS, still aims to make school history By CHRIS DUNCAN, AP Sports Writer December 27, 2006 HOUSTON (AP) -- It took some time for Rutgers to get over squandering its chance to reach the Bowl Championship Series. Recovered and refocused, the Scarlet Knights (10-2) say they have plenty of incentive to beat Kansas State (7-5) in Thursday's Texas Bowl -- specifically, earning the first postseason victory in the program's 137 mostly forgettable years. Complete story Rutgers, who has been playing football for 137 years, is still looking for it's first win. Rutgers is the oldest football playing university in the Big East by 18 years, Cincinnati is second at 119 years. Rutgers has only played in 3 previous bowls and this will be their fourth and possibly their first win. USF has been to two bowls in ten years and won the second. This just shows the stellar rise of Bulls football. Kizarvexis Go Bulls! Paste Elon!

BTW, my only disappointment w/the FootBulls leaving CUSA is not getting to go to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis. I'm betting Memphis blows B'ham away when in comes to BBQ plus there is Graceland too.

FYI Rutgers is a tough school to get in to. It was a big debate about the new recruiting standards they have with the current coaching staff. I don't think the graduation rate will be to high but a win is a win.
