Subject: Follow up on Purple Reign remarks re: USF and Big EastPosted by: Pirate Adrift on Mon Dec 25 2006 11:36:49 AM Message: Perhaps they will grow out of it and their almost instant rise into Div I football and admittance seeminlgy overnight into a BCS Conference may account for their attitudes....BUT.....I'm really not at all excited about the Big East anymore nor envious for us to join that conference. I still can't get over their behavior at the game. Also, I realize that I have had more exposure, living in Tampa as I do, than the average ECU fan has. Trust me on this when I say what you saw in Bham from those fans parading around the atadium really is more common than you think regarding USF's attitude. Their attitude and display of poor sportsmanship hurts the Big East. I really have much less desire to have ECU join the Big East. Prior to this experience I would have gladly welcome joining the Big East and had USF envy. After this bowl game I'm of the opinion that the Big East can have USF and everything USF brings with it. I no longer covet what USF has. At ECU we have a history, tradition, great fans, and except for an occasional prodigal son well behaved fans. If what it takes to join the Big East is USF type of program complete with their fan base then give me good ole ECU any day. I'd rather be going to minor bowls and having moral victories over BCS opponents than be part of the Big East if it means being identified with USF. The Big East lost a great deal of luster with me when they chose Cinn and USF over us and when I see what they chose in USF over what ECU could bring to that oonference I have lost complete respect for that conference. The Big East could have chosen a program committed to excellence. It could have chosen a program that the fan base respects the hard work, dedication, sacrifice that it takes to run a good solid program. The Big East could have chosen a program that graduates it's athletes. The Big East could have chosen a program that has earned it's way into Div I and therefore respects the game. It could have chosen a program where the fans support their school through adversity. Instead, the Big East chose a program with no tradition. a program that hasn't earned anything, a program selected for it's location rather than history, a program whose fans (many, not all) who are arrogant, unappreciative, and who will abandon their program at the first sign of problems or a struggle. In the long run ECU will continue to move forward. Programs like USF will crumble because they have not been built upon adversity. We will prevail because we recruit and retain players, fans, and coaches with integrity and strength of character. I'd rather be an ECU fan who supports a team that goes 2 and 7 or 7 and 5 and goes to a mid major bowl than be a fan of USF with a legitimate shot at a BCS bowl. One day we will have our shot and we will have earned it! We deserve better than we are getting out of the Big East or the ACC but we can be proud because we earn every bit of respect that grudingly comes our way. WE ARE THE PIRATES OF ECU. http://www.boneyardbanter.com/message_board/banter/2006/December/25/137071.php Yeah, because I rather have a mediocre team than having a whopping .5% of my fan base act up. :

We have beaten those toads 4 times and only have been playing football for 10 years. Maybe they deserved to be in the Big East back in their hey day--- but at this point, they should stop looking back and try to move forward across the board. USF got into the Big East for many reasons-- as a more complete university. If this clown wants to talk about fan behavior, he should have seen the cluster of jerks that ECU had near the USF bench-- they were shouting obscenities, making gestures, and threatening people the entire gme-- even when down 24-7. Don't believe me-- ask Hotmello-- they were even yapping at the band during halftime. It was pretty ridiculous.

It was disgusting offensive and had terrible pedohpilia overtones. I swear to God, I just about ran up into the stands to get my ass kicked but felt that display would have not been a good lesson for her. Fortunately, she was oblivious to the whole thing. I hate ECU and everything their f*ckhead fans stand for. I wasn't to proud of some of the Bull behavior but what ECU fans did went way over the line. F*ck them and their f*cking two-bit program. That team and their fans are in the same ****hole category that Miami and theor fans are in. The best thing for them is to kick them out of football. > >

I thought maybe he heard them wrong but evidently not. What a bunch of lowlifes!!
BucnBull Posted December 26, 2006 Group: Member Topic Count: 10 Content Count: 46 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 11/29/2006 Share Posted December 26, 2006 I'm over ECU. They were not a worthy opponent and their fans are delusional. They had many, not a few, fans that were out of line in 5 points as well as the game. They obviously like to revise history and do not allow alternative points of view. This will be the last thought I have of ECU.

Guest r_to_the_izzo
ECU blows and so does its fans. Not only did they get their asses kicked on the field, from what I've heard they got it kicked at 5 points as well. Not to mention the pansy who came over at the end of the game.
