According to ECU fans, these seem to be the factors comparing the schools:

-They have more fans and will represent creating a home field advantage.  True, USF will be intimidated, the WV fans cannot compare. :

-They will paint the town purple. True, we should be afraid. :

-USF plays in a rented stadium. True, the opionions of the NFL players that the Raymond James stadium playing surface is the best in the league should carry no value to fans of a team with such a fine stadium. :

-ECU will only have to stop Grothe to win the game since he accounts for most of the USF offense.  True, the fact that the best RB on the team was suspended for half the season does not matter.  The fact that he has  four victories over Big East teams as well as UNC is nothing when you consider he will face a mighty Pirate defense. :

-All of our fans are old farts with walking sticks. :

-ECU has more tradition, USF has none.  True, the fact that USF beat Pitt and Syracuse this year (former national champs) mean  nothing.  ECU is right up there with USC, Michigan, Texas, Penn St., Alabama.  :

-They owe us for the 2003 defeat USF gave them 38-37 in 2OT. Yeah, the 2002 46-30 loss and the 41-17 defeat in 2004 have been eliminated from their memories so they do not count. :

Given the above factors, I think we should all stay home and encourage the university not to accept the bowl bid to save us from being humiliated by this college football powerhouse that is East Carolina. :

Wow.  You know, I never thought about all that stuff.  I think you're right....we're doomed if we have the misguided notion that we could even stay on the same field with the might Pirates of ECU.

We actually have nothing to gain with this game and a lot to lose, whereas ECU has little to lose and everything to gain.

ECU is easily one of the most prolific and mighty football programs in the history of college football!

Do you think these ECU fans that come on these boards to talk the extremely over-the-top smack that they do would do so if theirs wasn't such an illustrious and monumental history??

To be fair, it's really only a couple of them.  Most realize the challenge they have.  One poster, he's JerseyJayhawk on one board, and he's JerseyPirate on another has a real problem with us.
