Bowls don't like unknown schools. They like big schools that bring lots of fans. It's a problem USF will continue to battle. Grothe's a good story, but the bowls are going to pick the team they think will bring the biggest crowd and generate the most interest and revenue for their game and their sponsors.Particularly on the heels of that egg we laid on ESPN versus Cincinnati. Bowls are hoping we don't make it, at this point, I'd wager.

Greg's right, bowl orgs look at the economic impact that fans bring to the table in addition to one that will attract viewers. They're looking for teams whose fans will be there in great numbers, regardless of when or where or who they are playing. So, for all of you who are turning your noses up at Birmingham/Legion Field/Southern Miss, etc., waiting for a bowl worthy of your presence, remember that you are only helping delay that very thing. It also could affect, come bowl renogiation time, how we as a conference are viewed.

Guest
yea its gonna be b-ham. no way texas takes us over who they have left over between rutgers, louisville, and wv.Of course, you are assuming that Rutgers, Louisville, and West Virginia are available. It is possible that Louisville and the West Virginia-Rutgers winner BOTH get BCS bids... then the WVU-RU loser goes to either the Gator or Sun Bowl... Then the Texas Bowl has to follow NCAA Regulations and select a 7-5 USF over 6-6 Pitt and/or 6-6 Cincy. We would get forced upon them... assuming that Texas actually gets to select before the International and Birmingham Bowls...

SO yes, if 2 BE teams are in BCS Bowls, then USF has a shot to end up in Houston. It all depends on Pitt really.
