FIU started the fight. If this happened against us we may be in the same situation as may any other team in the country.

Randy, they were killing an 0-7 team. Yes FIU gave Peattie and the holder a cheap shot and I wouldn't have a problem with a limited exchange but stomping adn hitting people with your helmet?

Thats just a wee bit extreme in my book.

Maybe it's a common practice in PROFESSIONAL hockey where grown men "duke it out" but I find it completely unacceptable in NCAA athletics, where you're still dealing with kids.

Hockey hasn't had had a bench clearing incident like FIU-Miami in quite some time. Plus, it's highly doubtful you'd see a hockey player kick another player while he is down.

Let's see, FIU has had one incident in their history, and they've taken much stronger action than "the U", which has had three incidents in the last seven games.  Big talk from Swofford, who says "Additional measures were needed" and proceeds to change one measley suspension from one game to indefinite.  Meriweather in particular has had his share of incidents recently.  He should have been kicked off the team for stomping on defenseless players.

Makes you proud of the tougher suspensions for our players who didn't even try to harm anyone.

Shooting at someone in self defense and....

Please tell me what else Meriweather has done. You wouldn't defend your friends or family if you were getting shot at?

Oddly enough, I don't routinely walk around outside at 6:30 in the morning with a gun stuffed in waist.  Do you?

Or do you think that gleefully stomping on players lying on the ground was also self-defense?

Also, Lamar Thomas was fired tonight for his support of the fight on television.

At least one wise decision.

Lamar's commentary was so uncalled for.  Even Mike Irving called him out tonight during MNF on ESPN-News.

As for the 1 game suspension...Whatever.  That's really sending a stern message to the rest of the NCAA and precollege football players.  More scholarships need to be tossed and some players need to be kicked out of their respective university with pending assault charges.

Hey so u guys think UNC will pick up Coker next year??? Just a thought

no way, and heres why.  he took a miami program that is used to winning and competing for the national championship every year, and has taken them to being unranked for the first time in like 30 years.  is coker a good coach?  maybe, but he hasn't shown anything while at miami.  he is a risk to take as a coach, and i don't think unc will take that risk, especially considering the standards to get into the school, no player coker recruits would get in.

and has taken them to being unranked for the first time in like 30 years.

not even close.  they had the longest ranked streak at 107 weeks.  what is impressive though is this is the first time in 23 years that both FSU and Miami are unranked.
