"Homesick" sounds like it's personal issues... give the kid a Break, I'm sure Leavitt wouldn't have said that He'd be welcome here if there was bad blood.  Everyone goes through hard times now and then.

I'm more bummed about Plancher pulling his hamstring this spring.  Since Simpson quit it looks like we're a little on the thin side at the position.

a JR is homesick  ::) more like he was getting his ass handed to him.

Hey Frank Go back home to your mommy she'll make you some chicken noodle soup and take you out for some ice cream

 8)

Isn't it a little of both?

Say you're in a fight.  You're beating the snot out of the kid.  In that case, you probably wouldnt want to go running home.  However, if you're the one losing, getting dirt thrown on your face, home starts to sound better.

If you're stuck in that position, you either get up and keep going or you leave.  Staying in that position isn't good for anybody, not the person staying there and not the team he's on.  If he feels this is the best decision for himself, he was NOT was USF was looking for anyway.  No reason to taunt him or get upset, most of us can't (or won't) play football for our beloved bulls either.

To put it simple: we want people who want to be here, and if they miss mommy its their perogative.  No reason to hate.  If that's his level of toughness (or if he had other reasons) he did the right thing.

If he can´t handle the practices ... not ready for a season.

No doubt that Leavitt runs a hard practice ... WE NEED THAT !

Only the strong survive.

...

we need to stop recruiting head cases and wasting one minute on them let alone a scholarship

...

Don´t think we do physic(sp?) evaluations ... you don´t know until you get them in pads.

So this leave open a scholly ? Sometime you can get a late qualifyer with an extra scholly during the summer.

Thin D-Line Loses Harry

By ANDY STAPLES astaples@tampatrib.com

Published: Mar 30, 2006

TAMPA - An already-thin unit for the University of South Florida football team got thinner after heralded DT Frank Harry left the program a week into spring practice.

After losing three starters along the defensive front, the Bulls were hoping Harry, who enrolled at USF in January after being named an honorable mention JuCo All-American at Pearl River (Miss.) Community College, would add experienced depth on the line.

"I'm going to keep the door open for him forever," Bulls coach Jim Leavitt said. "It wasn't about this fall with Frank, because he might've redshirted. It was about the next number of years and building depth."

Harry would have had two years eligibility with USF.

At the end of Wednesday's practice, sophomore K Justin Teachey hit a 62-yard field goal and Mike Benzer nailed a 57-yarder.

"Those two are pretty decent kickers," Leavitt said. "But we still have to do it when it counts, so we'll see."

LT Thed Watson will probably miss the rest of spring practice with a broken hand and RB Moise Plancher (hamstring) continues to be day-to-day. C Nick Capogna is out with a high ankle sprain, LB Chris Robinson is out with a broken hand and RT Marc Dile sustained a knee injury.

The Bulls return to practice Friday and will hold a closed scrimmage Saturday.

Didn't Earl Lane coach the D-Line? Does anyone here think that Harry's decision to leave due to "homesickness" was maybe made easier by Lane's departure to LSU?
