Tampa, Fla. Nov. 15, 2023  The University of South Florida women’s basketball (3-0) heads to Alabama (3-0) for its first road test of the season on Thursday, Nov. 16. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET and the game will stream live on SECN+.

SETTING THE STAGE

Both the Bulls and the Crimson Tide enter the contest undefeated and winners of three straight. One program will emerge with its fourth win and remain undefeated, while the other will suffer its first loss of the campaign.

THE SOUTH FLORIDA-ALABAMA SERIES

Thursday marks the second-ever meeting between South Florida and Alabama, but it’s the first in Tuscaloosa. USF captured the first clash, a 67-59 (Nov. 16, 2022) Bulls win at the Yuengling Center exactly a year ago.

LAST TIME OUT

The Bulls defeated Grambling, 83-57, on Monday night at the Yuengling Center. Freshman guard Vittoria Blasigh posted a career-best 21-point effort, connecting on a personal-high five 3-pointers in the win, and sophomore center Emma Johansson poured in a career-high 12 points and grabbed a personal-best nine boards against the Tigers.

BULL LEADERS

USF has three players averaging double-digit points through the first three contests, led by Blasigh (14.0 ppg.). Sophomore wing Carla Brito (12.7 ppg.) and Senior guard Maria Alvarez (11.0 ppg.) round out the Bulls averaging double figures. Senior guard Aerial Wilson (5.7 apg.) is ranked 12th nationally in total assists (17 assists) and Blasigh (10 3PTM) is ranked T9th nationally in total 3-pointers made.

BULLS FANS CAN VOTE FOR PUISIS

Senior guard Sammie Puisis is one of 20 players named to the 2024 Ann Meyers-Drysdale Award watch list, which is annually presented to the top shooting guard in Division I women’s college basketball. Bulls fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting for each of the three rounds. The list will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Myers-Drysdale and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee, where a winner will be selected. Fans can vote for Puisis at hoophallawards.com.

Shooting woes continue. #5 looked great the first game. Struggling since.

Geez getting crushed. 16 points at the half is pathetic.
