I am not the baseball expert when it comes to aac vs acc but I thought the acc had better teams. I know the acc have  guys drafted in the first few rounds the last few years. But we have the coach next year no matter what and I hope usf baseball turns it around. If not then we will be finding a new coach.

Baseball isn't football or basketball. You're not drafting guys on stats or who they played against. If anyone cared about that, they wouldn't be taking HS kids in the first round. If you can watch a 17 year old take BP and light up high school competition, you can do the same watching Cantu take BP at our field and play against AAC opponents. He's three years deep into his college career, he's not showing scouts anything they haven't seen playing for us or for FSU next year. He'd play 50+ games for us next year, but he'll play them for someone else. Results would be the same. If he rakes for FSU next year or rakes for us, his draft possibilities don't change. Whatever kept him from being drafted this year will or won't shake out next year, it won't be because of being in the ACC.

Here's 17th round draft pick from Rhode Island and Cantu.

.316avg 8hrs 1.028OPS

.302avg 11hrs .956OPS

Marginal difference and one did it in a lesser conference and got drafted.

Honestly, I haven't even looked at who all is coming and going, but there are people on here who follow baseball far more than I do and can answer that.

@JoeB@olafberserkerThose guys know more of our team. I played in college and I coached at Palm Beach Gardens and Stoneman Douglas (name drop coming) and was there when Anthony Rizzo was a pup, but my game and the game today are different. When I was in school my sophomore year, we were using 2 3/4 bats and -5 (if you want to know what our bats were like, watch a YouTube with the Bat Bros when they break out 90s bats and wha that looks like

), that was the year the CWS final was 21-10 and people were like, "uh... maybe offense is a little too much." Pre-BBCOR, the whole deal. I know baseball, but I am NOT the guy to look for for baseball insight.

Cantu also had an injury at the end of the season.  Not sure how much that hurt his draft status but I'm sure it didn't help.  As for Rivera, he pretty much was a non factor the last couple weeks of the season.  Monque and even Rosenblum got most of the innings the last few weeks.  Seemed his fate was already set.  Hudi had some moments for us but can be replaced.  Problem is we have alot if guys in that same boat...that either have to get alot better or outright replaces.  Especially the pitchers

I was basically told later in the season that Cantu wasn't on the draft radar.  A little surprised by the transfer, but I'd imagine that he sees at an opportunity to compete against a higher level of competition and possibly get some attention from the scouts while also possibly winning some more games and getting some more **** as @JTrue pointed out
