If the 'ranked 5 places higher' rule does in fact exist and is in effect this season...

The rule was in effect for 2004, but is not for 2005.

If USF wins out and goes to the Sugar Bowl, there will be heat if USF is not in the Top 10 in the BCS. Same goes for WVA winning out and not being in the Top 10 in the BCS and going to the Sugar Bowl. The BE team going to the BCS needs to be a Top 10 team. I'm not sure if that is going to happen.

I realize we're going to get lambasted if we win the BE and go to the Sugar Bowl no matter what but at least it won't be QUITE as bad if we're at least ranked ....... of course, after we win the Sugar Bowl all that won't matter.   8)

I love the South Florida - West Virginia BCS showdown talk during this game.  These announcers are talking like both teams winning out is a given and the December 3rd game will be huge.  Gotta love it!
