I think this thread is just about done.  Can we see the results of the poll?

Like I said before, USF has no reason to help UCF get in.  Can anyone provide a justifiable reason for USF to help UCF?

I haven't really thought about it that way.  One thing that sticks out to me would be that our annual game would be FAR more important would it become a conference game.  In that case, one can assume even better attendance and even more excitement for the game.  In that way, BOTH schools may be able to garner more recruits and much more notoriety in the long run.

Just a thought.

That is a good point Mav... but if we are rivals, as you say, even an OOC game annually would draw huge crowds.

True.  But I think it would be a tad more important if it were in conference.  Not too sure.

Haven't the last two FSU/Miami games seemed to have a bit more to them?

If a rivalry develops between our schools, being in the same conference will have no effect.  Either the crowds will come, or they won't.  That will define the rivalry, not the conference affiliation.

I see downsides to helping UCF get into a BCS conference, and no upsides.

I don't know Mav... FSU Miami games always seem to have a ton of importance... they are always factors in the national title race.

I'm with MikeB... if you were in the Big East with us... that is one more BCS school to compete with from Florida.  I don't see that benefiting us.  I'll stick with an annual game.

Maybe not a direct benefit to USF but a good UCF team would benefit the conference, thus benefiting USF indirectly.

I am not saying this is true but if UCF could annually be ranked in the 20's or 30's, that would surely improve SOS across the board in the NBE.

Any team ranked in the 20-30s annually would help the conference.  However, UCF isn't annually ranked in that range, so that is a moot point to this conversation.  Boy, you guys sure get cocky after winning a couple games against weak competition. ::)

They have been going at it for the NC for years. I doubt the ACC championship possibility did anything to enhance their game .... Nice try, though.  ;)

I disagree completely. The only SURE way for this to become a heated rivalry is to be in the same conference, where the outcome of games mean more than some silly "War for I-4" or something.
