If we had to go with a name change, I think Tampa Bay University would be the best option. Throwing the Bay moniker in there encompasses the fact that the school has several branches in the area. Plus, it matches the local pro team.  TB Bucs, TB Bulls. Nice.

I wouldn't let the fact that people call us a "directional" Florida team bother you.  Being in Florida, we can get away with it because the state is so populated compared to surrounding states. Northeastern Lousiana Polytechnic and State University? Yeah that's gay. USF is acceptable. I tend to look at Southern Cal and think, "hey, THEY got away with it".

Put it this way - I dont think Rutgers is gonna be worred too much about our name when we spank that arse tomorrow.
