We'll see. I think we see the NFL(at least to start) because they are paid athletes. I can't imagine a University will ultimately risk an student athlete's (amateur)health.

So you think the people that compensate their employees will be more likely to act outside of their best interest than the people that profit of the backs of their indentured servants?

I think the presidents of Universities will need to at least pretend that they're putting their students(operative word here) best interest ahead of money. One league has a union that will help compensate if a player suffers life long effects from COVID the other are student athletes that, should they suffer long term lung effects or another side effect of COVID that is seen in some of those that experience symptoms but do not die.

Let’s put it this way, the NFL will play because, like you and I, they are contractually obligated to in order to collect their check. The NCAA will ultimately not have a season because, same reason schools aren’t opening in the fall, ultimately the schools are contractually obligated to keep all of their students safe. 1 student athlete suffering long term effects from this thing is ultimately 1 to many. 1 NFL player getting sick is like one of us catching it at work, a risk of our jobs.

Most schools Athletic programs need the money more than the professional leagues do and coaches, scholarships, staff and debt maintenance continues to come in even if the tv money stops. They maybe able to pretend by doing worthless measures like playing 12 conference games but they won’t be able to pretend very long or very well. Why? Because money (which is all that matters in college athletics and why being in the AAC sucks) and if it don’t make dollars it don’t make sense.

Statistically speaking the flu is deadlier for that particular age group 18-22...player safety isn't an issue...now you could have the discussion of spread to more vulnerable age groups, that is fair...I have seen nonsensical reports of long term damage for Covid for young people...you know, it is odd becaue we now have an astronomical amount of college age folks that have recovered and haven't had long term damage from this..they seem to be doing just fine...if there was REAL data that supported this claim...do you really think playing would be entertained...in fact, do you think any sports organizations would be playing?
