Had a great weekend and saw the usual diehards, including the reincarnation of CousinRicky.  Took in some wonderful food and some Chicago Blues at the Kingston Mines.   The game was unbelievable.  Our crowd was strong, loud and proud. And Chicago, as usual, produced its own uniquely entertaining moments:

Daily serenades by picketing hotel workers with bullhorns.

Eating at an upscale white-tablecloth restaurant and witnessing a drunken customer loudly threatening a bartender with a steak knife for allegedly moving his golf cap on the bar.

A 12 - 13ish girl in pigtails and Illini gear berating USF with a mean mouth that would make a drunken sailor blush and flashing me    the forehead "L" for Loser sign before the start of the game.🤣

       Ah, Chicago!

       Ah, Chicago!

Welcome back. I see the change of ADs had brought you out of retirement from the 'pen.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
