We had the new U icon in 2003 - that's the old techno bull over the bucs flag.  And the tunnels have the old colors on them.  Must be prior to 2003.

I wonder if this is the guy who bought 500 tickets the day they went on sale.  The view from the seat looks like section 232 or 231 which is right behind the sections that are given to visiting teams, but are on public single sale.

It's Memphis on November 9, 2002...

USF won 31-28 in front of 32,770...

How do I know this?

1) Old Logo -- We have agreed that the old logo is on the field, so it must have taken place before 2003.

2) C-USA Logo -- Along the walls you can see the C-USA logo.  While we were not in C-USA until 2003, we were approved for membership in 2001.  

For the above reasons, the game took place in either 2001 or 2002.

3) Fair Time -- If you look in the upper left corner... between the Hess and and the scoreboard you can clearly see a ferris wheel.  Now, the only time there is a ferris wheel at Ray Jay has been for the Hillsborough County Fair.

4) In 2002, the Hillsborough County Fair took place from 11/6 - 11/10.  On 11/9 USF played Memphis (see above).

5) In 2001 the Fair took place from 11/7 - 11/11... USF played Western Illinois on 11/10.  The WIU Bulldogs (mascot: Rocky!) do have Purple as a color... but we only had 23,252 attend that game.  

6) WIU also has gold pants, not white pants.  Memphis has white pants and white jerseys.

Therefore...

The photograph is of the Memphis game in 2002.

That confirms the analysis I was conducting on the coloration of the palm leaves given the night lighting.  Based on the coloration of the leaves I had narrowed the time frame down to a time in early November.

My further study on the clothing of those standing near the palms - and your analysis above - confirms thie picture was circa 2002.

The UL vs USF game had about 37K at the game. The lower bowl was pretty much packed during that game against Louisville.
