I believe he was the first national sports writer, about 15 years ago, to put USF in his top 25.

At number 12, that's a stretch. I like his thinking but, being that high to start the season we should have loftier goals.

To be fair he had USF at #10 in his way to early predictions; so he technically docked them two spots in this iteration. :loser:

I don't care if the pollsters over-rank USF. For the lofty expectations, being apart of the top 25 club is a huge W in rankings over the course of the season. It's clear that getting in to the top 25 club is extremely difficult for a G5 school, especially one with a weak SOS. Need to go back and look at how many G5s started the year ranked and what that meant for their season; sans Houston 2016.

I meant only that if we start the season at number 12, we should be hoping to be within the top 4 at seasons end and not just an Also ran bowl game.

Ah gotcha. Reading comprehension after five is a wash at best

We need to be overranked this off-season and start the season in the Top 15 because with our schedule we won't be moving up very far very quickly and need to crawl one position at a time right from the beginning of the season as teams ahead of us lose.
