Most people believe it was because we were young.  I'm still a little skepitcal.  I'm taking a wait and see attitude.

There was more to it then that.  Suffice it to say some big attitude problems, and a disgruntled contigent took over the defense.  There wasn't any real senior leadership to take-over.

I would say having Tim Jones, Johnny Jones, Djuan Brown, and to a lesser extent Jason Allen back should have a positive effect.  Plus almost all of the attitude problems are gone- call it addition by subtraction.

This is a GOOD hire.  You can't always be negative.  Sure, the team he worked for was pretty bad in his stretch, but we're talking about taking a decent OC with a history of success, and making him a POSITION coach.  Of noteworthy mention is that since ohio used a running set, the TE coaching probably includes BLOCKING from this guy, and that could never hurt.

And yes, we do need a QB coach, badly.  Who knows, with a good qb coach maybe getting smith out of that and into playcalling was the right idea, as long as smith calls even halfway decent plays a good QB and hall could do really well.

I still wonder if CJL is just trying to take over the offense though.  I couldnt blame him for that.

I hope you're right.

I am.  Well at least about the problems, the rest is just speculation about those four players improving us.  We won't know until mid-September.

Actually, we're done.  NCAA regulates the coaching hires, and if this guy is TE coach then we're complete.  Smith will probably maintain his duties as QB coach as the OC, and will be helped by Barnhardt.

Though unpopular, smazza is right most of the time.

What he says is what the rest of us WOULD say if we werent blinded by being fans.

USF needs to make a splash at SOME point and hire a coach or 2 with a legit performance background.

First, your wrong. Smazza is rarely ever correct in his statements. Second, one of the problems with smazza is he should act more like a fan.

Careful, although it may not look like it, smazz is the brains behind this outfit. He only uses Brad as the front man ............
