Well, since you referred to them as "Retreads" I guess I will go with up and comer.

However, if I had to chose between an up and comer or an "Experienced Veteran Coach"  I might be torn.

If you want to quibble about phrasing:

Coach on the rise

Vs

Coach on the fall

How about a compromise between both...

e.x. Strong (young, yet established)

Strong isn't that young anymore, he's 56.  Seems to still have a lot of energy and gives off the vibe of someone 45 or so.  However, of all the retreads, Strong is they guy I want.  He'd be hungry to prove that he isn't a failure after Texas, and he can recruit Florida.  He got a lot of talent out of Florida at Louisville.

Taggart (imo) would not have left us if we were  a P5 program.  The way things stand now, if we find a hot young coach, he will be gone after a couple really good years.  A retread like Strong has a chip on his shoulder and a lot to prove, so he would be a good fit, figuring that you will likely have him only for a few years unless we somehow get into the P5 group again.

Kiffen I said no to originally, but maybe being under the discipline of Saban has caused him to grow up a bit.  I don't know, but he would be gone once a P5 program comes calling.

If we get an old coach looking for a place to play out his career, we risk the probability of him not being able to connect with the high school kids, who are the lifeblood of a college program.

I guess in the end it all depends on the person.  Coaches will come and go, but the one thing that will go on is USF.

Go Bulls!
