Well DW, I have to give you credit for being a good sport with us over here.  Being newbies in the BE doesn't seem to affect our manners much (mine especially).

Glad you visit often and you have an accepting sense of humor.   I'll be back over at your home, bigeastboards.com, later tonight.

By the way, don't waste time on your avatar yet...we may have some changes upcoming that might effect the avatar.

That Jonathan is so cute.   ;)

Welcome to our board.  Where in SC are you?  I assume SC stands for South Carolina.

Thanks, I did live in SC at the time I started posting on these boards.  I lived outside of York and commuted to Charlotte.  I've since moved to Gastonia, NC, and just kept the moniker for continuity.  However, I am West Virginia born and inbred.   ;)  Whereabouts are you?

By the way, why does the Cardinal logo have square teeth?  How intimidating is that?  Sharpen those babies up a little and then, maybe, we're talking about some ferocity.

One more thing Bulls fans.  Just remember......barn.....vibrating machine......24/7.  :P

DW, you flatter me.....love you too!

As for the avatars, having worked with images a lot, 65 pixels doesn't scale too well if you started with an even number of pixels on the x and  y axis.  80x80 would be ideal.  60x60 would be okay too.

I live in Columbia.  I came up here 6 years ago from Tampa.

I didn't either Velcro dontknow.gif I thought all Cardinals from Kentucky only had just ONE tooth?

I agree, if they made that bird look more realistic (dropping the teeth in favor of a sharpened tooth), then I think they would have a winner  ;D  WHAT DO YOU THINK GOCARDS?

I think if jonathan grew some teeth, and they dyed some blood around his mouth/fangs and put some fur on it, instead of q-tip cotton, he'd look very ferocious!  Now he looks like a disney character.

OK OK enough with the teeth talk here.  You can say all you want about the idiotic pUKe fans of the CommonpUKe of Kensucky just leave the hilljack jokes to those not from Louisville.  We are a bit different here.  Most of us dont even have an accent.  We are more midwestern and less Beverly hillbilly.  I'm sure just mentioning a dentist office to a group in Eastern Ky would get you blank stares in return.

AS for that Slush puppy of DWs, we'll see just how ferocious he is soon enough.

One question though.  What the H is that Jonathon thing?

Gocards, thanks for stopping by the Bullspen. I guess I will extend the hand and welcome you to this forum. Everyone must be on vacation here :)

What is that Jonathan thing you ask. Well, it is a white Siberian Husky outfit. I believe it is a girl inside the outfit. The customed mascot  came about in 1964 when Jonathan V (the real dog -5th of 12 total) became "shell shocked" and was unable to tolerate the noise at games. Here's his pic 05husky.jpg They replace him that year with a costumed mascot hskymask.jpg who looked real sad. They got a new dog, Jonathan the VI, but he died young from injuries inflicted by an automobile so the costumed mascot had to stay on for another year. However, they made the new costumed mascot look much more ferocious. There costumed mascot became popular with the fans so Uconn retained botht ehreal Husky and the beanie baby creation.  In all, 3 or 4 Jonathan's died by automobile accident. More on the on the link to Bigeastboards.com.

Here is a picture of the currrent Jonathan. This is Jonathan the Xii 012husky.jpg

Jonathan I was a black and white Husky, but all huskies there after were all white.

Jonathan II was the dog that actually gave the Uconn mascot its ferocious image. In 1936 it chased the Brown's Bear mascot up a tree. They had to call the fire dept. to get the bear out of the tree. How many mascots can claim doing that?

So why the square teeth GoCards? What 's up with that?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
