I don't if "ferocious" is the word I would use, but West Virginia's "guy with a beard and a rifle" mascot is by far the best of those schools currently in the league.

i just voted and we are ahead of WV by 1%.......this poll is a bit bias for the fact that it's on the Pitt athletic site

Yeah, and the irony is the new Pitt logo cuts out the panther...it's just PITT...funny.  So ferocious it must have been scaring little kids or something.

School embraces nickname and history

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Pitt is back.

The University of Pittsburgh is once again embracing its more informal name, unveiling a new logo Thursday that includes the block-letter, navy blue and gold "Pitt" that is reminiscent of the logo the Panthers wore as early as the 1920s.

The school's 19 teams had a script-letter Pitt logo from 1973 to 1996. In 1997, the school began using "Pittsburgh" on its uniforms and logos.

"Even when it was de-emphasized, the Pitt moniker never left the consciousness of our fans," athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement. "I recall saying upon my appointment as athletic director that I believe there are appropriate times to be recognized as 'University of Pittsburgh' and other times when we want to be recognized as 'Pitt."'

Who says that WVU has the best Mascot? Some facts, last year that deerskin clad wierddo misfired almost as often as he blasted that danged musket pea shooter he has. Besides when it does actually work, it is annoying. Dang made me jump out of my outfit a couple times. As for ferocious, I will kick butt at any game - any mascot. Hers's a pic of me doing some pushups. Ya, Uconn tradition calls for us to do pushups after every score. Seeing how Uconn puts up a lot of points, doing all these pushups has developed my arms. This heped when I took a swing at the Scarlet Knight mascot and put him lights out for 5 miutes. Ya, with each score us Huskies have to do a total number of pushups as the score board dictates. I like to see any other mascot survive a Uconn game when we score 63 points. Do the math ..... 3 push ups after a FG, 10 pushups after the next TD, 17 pushups after the next TD ubtil the final TD - 63 pushups. Ya, I heard that buckskin whimp couldn't do even 10 pushups. What a wuss. As for that Panther mascot, well, we took care of that cat last year as well.

Here's a pic of me doing pushups at a game. You may want to rethink that ferocious thing. I bite and do leg lifts as we ... if you know what I mean  ;D

Would a panther be able to take down a big brahman bull? Tough to say.

No other mascot in the BE could.

A swift kick and run to the nuts, a blow delivered by none other than Jonathan, should be enough to take that big bull down  :)

Holy Jesus. He looks like one of those perverts who go to Furry conventions.
