With a win at Temple, I think we get in the Top 25.  Miami lost. Ole Miss at LSU will knock one of them out.  Auburn is likely to lose.

With the way the voters have been going, I'm not so sure anymore what to believe. Although I'm pretty darn sure we should be closer than we are.

2-loss Va Tech probably sneaks in with their "big" win against Miami.

If WSU beats ASU they could be up for a spot.

Another win for Okie State could have them vying (granted it is against Kansas)

If Colorado beats Stanford they'll sneak in.

A spot will open up from one of Ole Miss//LSU.

Navy will drop out if they lose (I really don't know if I want that to happen though.)

UNC could drop out if they lose.

Auburn drops out if they lose but Arkansas probably stays in if they lose.

I just see four potential closeby P5 teams that could sneak in with maybe two or three spots opening up.

VT will almost certainly leapfrog us ... only way I see that not happening is if we blow out Temple on the road tonight.

Here's who we need to root for in all the relevant games:

Kansas +24(Yikes) vs Ok St

UVA +9.5 vs 22 UNC

Stanford -2 vs Colorado (even though there's still a chance Stanford could sneak back in with a win)

E. Mich +23.5 @ 20 W Mich

Memphis -2.5 @ 24 Navy (Although it's probably better for SoS if Navy wins and is ranked next week)

UCLA -7 vs 19 Utah

17 Arkansas +10 @ 21 Auburn

23 Ole Miss @ 25 LSU -6.5 (Loser is out)

Arizona St +7.5 vs Wash St

I am hoping for a higher profile showdown with Navy, but not sure if that will happen.

This.  We want a top-25 matchup for next week's game to get more attention from both the media and those who might be more compelled to attend.

Exactly, whether or not USF is ranked; we still want Navy to come here with a ranking, for better or for worse. Plus if Memphis beats Navy they probably nab their spot anyway.

“In my mind, I’m kind of like, ‘OK, excuses over'. We know what we need to do. We’ve got the right team together, and now we move forward, and we’ll evaluate and be accountable to each other, including myself, from this point forward.”

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
