That place has been a graveyard for coaches since the Southwest Conference broke up. Dimel wasn't given a chance at Houston. Three years is not a long time to anything going.  He inherited a team w/o any talent. Instead of taking shortcuts he pretty much redshirted his first two recruiting classes, thus limiting short term success. Think about it, when Art Briles was hired after Dimel he had almost immediate success b/c he had all the talent that Dimel had stockpiled. Let's not forget that Dimel put together the highest rated recruiting classes in C-USA for two consecutive years. Dimel didn't just forget to be a pretty good football coach. If we can get Dimel on our staff it would be a good get. Calvin Magee would be a distant second b/c we all know that it is Rich Rodriguez who runs the offense at West Virginia. Dana Dimel was able to turn a negative into a positive in his final game as University of Houston football coach. As Dimel, fired by the school last weekend, clutched the game ball following his Cougars' 27-10 upset victory against Louisville on Saturday afternoon at Robertson Stadium, it was hard for him to hide his emotions. Isn't that the case with some contract?
Guest S. Bien
It would be a good move. He's good friends with Leavitt, he knows the offense- this is partly where Leavitt got it- and he knows our offense. The only nasty dilemma is he's still getting paid from UH which is why he has an unpaid assistant job. Also, no one should use Dimel's stint at Houston as a reason to be leery of him as an OC. He had trouble as a HC, but as an OC he did awesome jobs at KSU, and Wyoming. The pay thing will be a hang-up.

This guy has the potential, and was fired too early. UH wasn't exactly a marquee program and building it vs decent competition wasn't easy.We went 4-7 last year. We could use his experience. We could use his capabilities for offense. We could use a co-offensive coordinating with a top notch RB coach and a very good passing offense coach. Surely, one of our brighter QB prospects (as in likely not julmiste unless he puts in more effort/gets smarter) could pick up on a nasty offense that the two of them could put together.Wow, that would be insane. If we made both of them OC, I'd add an extra win to my expectations next season, looking for 7-4 to 8-3 instead of 6-5 to 7-4.I hope this gets done.
