  1. Tough call because NCST is a BCS football program, we are not. That being said, if he comes here, he could start from Day 1 at a program close by.
  2. Ironically, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a boost in season ticket sales for next year after this firing. I know I will be buying for next year. Merry Christmas Bulls Fans!
  3. I'd be happy with any of those. Although I highly highly highly highly doubt that Tuberville would leave Tech for us. I don't see how Tuberville would leave a BCS school for a non-BCS school in ours. I'd like to see Randy Edsall if he gets fired, Butch Davis, or Calvin Magee.. it would have to be a known name trying to rebuild his career or someone coming from the assistant ranks not from a high-profile program
  4. Hasn't this guy worn out his 2nd & 3rd chances. I don't know? We aren't some high-profiled program either. Our only shot would be with an up and coming coach or one that needs to rebuild his career
  5. We can only go up from here. This move is just confirmation that our athletic department isn't completely moronic.
  6. Guys, we aren't big enough for even a proven HC winner at even the mid-major level.. WE ARE A MID-MAJOR program, now that the big east is reduced to what it is. I think our best bet would be someone like Charlie Strong, who was a coordinator who had/has the potential to be a good HC if given the chance. And as much as people don't want Petrino in because of the scandal, we aren't a program that can be that picky. Sure, he has some red flags, but so do we (now being in this trash conference), it would be a perfect marriage of a coach trying to rebuild his rep and a program trying to rebuild itself.
  7. Well if this is the case, maybe the Bucs, USF, and Soccer and come to a 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 agreement over RJS and make it less "buccaneers". THe stadium hosts bowl games as well, so it would only make sense for it to be more generic-looking and adaptable to whatever event is going on. Right now, it seems like every time you walk into RJS, you KNOW it is the buc's stadium. maybe soccer + USF can kick some money into RJS to replace the permanent signage with digital signs that change depending on what event is going on (much like MetLife stadium for giants/jets games)
  8. First of all, I don't konw how you can say nobody gives a **** about soccer when it is the 3rd most attended sport in the U.S. ahead of the NHL and the NBA for average attendance. Second of all, how is 28K too small when the league on average gets about 18k a game? http://aol.sportingn...-american-sport I think he meant for USF to use, not for an MLS club. I think we can live with a 40K - 45k seating stadium. 40K is UCONN's stadium, 45K is UCF's stadium. For our needs, that is more than enough. I just hope USF and MLS can collaborate on this effort. As for the viability of soccer in tampa bay, as long as we can benefit from a stadium being built, i could care less if the franchise will dissolve in the near future. that just means more stadium for us.
  9. If it is a retractable roof stadium, I don't see how the 28K size wouldn't be set in stone
  10. http://www2.tbo.com/news/sports/2012/nov/28/13/major-league-soccer-may-return-to-tampa-with-400m-ar-578282/ ^^ Maybe we need to get in on this deal and split a 50-50 deal with them for this stadium
  11. Maybe the ACC takes USF and UCF, both schools fire their coaches, and both schools get Bowdens to coach their programs (e.g.- Tommy at USF, Terry at UCF). that would create a buzz and a rivalry like no other
  12. It's all puppy dogs and rainbows when you interview CSH. I'd like to see him get to the nitty-gritty and call out some players in the media. I'd like to see some fire.
  13. Fire Woolard, Skip Holtz, Entire Staff.. then hire: AD: Bobby Bowden HC: Terry Bowden OC: Jeff Bowden DC: Tommy Bowden
  14. I HATE when people think this way. COMPLETELY WRONG. expectations of a college football team located in the state of florida with all these recruits are MUCH HIGHER than a college basketball team located in the state of florida. this is a football hotbed, you are expected to win. Also, Stan Heath, with USF located SO FAR AWAY from america's hotbed of talent (the northeast), has to compete in america's TOUGHEST basketball conference.. AND HE DOES. Skip Holtz, with USF located IN THE MIDDLE of america's hotbed of talent, has to compete in america's WORST bcs football conference.. AND STILL CAN'T
  15. He has no discipline over the team with his slaps on the wrist. I have a feeling that the inmates are running the assylum
  16. Wearing paper bags over your head has 100% no correlation to recruiting
  17. The Army homecoming was much worse-- not just because we lost to effing army but also because people defending our coaching staff, using the excuse that we redshirted players to get them more years for the transition to the Big East at least this time around, people are not delusional
  18. We need to get the students in on the paper bags
  19. +1 we've bottomed out. We can only go up from here. so who ever comes in and at least gets us to .500, we'd be so appreciative of. how sad is that. Maybe this Holtz fiasco is a blessing in disguise. I feel like when Holtz got hired, it was under some emergency circumstances (Leavitt choking a player, bad timing in terms of recruiting, right before signing day). This time around, we will be hiring a new coach under some obvious circumstances (losing football team), so maybe we can take our time in picking the right coach for this program. When holtz was hired, i felt like he was more of just the "best of what's around" type of hiring. remember, we hired him on January 14, which was after most of the other hirings in FBS
  20. Guys, butch davis won at UNC.. a basketball school.. football is an afterthought in the entire state of NC. With butch, his connections, and his proven resume of building a winning COLLEGE football program in the state of Florida, i think it would be a slam dunk here at USF. He could rebuild his UMiami staff here at USF. i think randy shannon is only a linebackers coach at TCU. he could be brought in here as a DC. Butch could install a pro-style football program that will prepare kids for the NFL much like Schiano did at Rutgers-- and to me, that is the best recruiting tool for a kid in the state of FL.. to play for a program that will prepare them for the NFL and a program that they can win at. With his ties to greg schiano, and being able to coach in the same stadium that schiano does, he could synergistically create a USF-Buccaneers.. nfl-like environment
