  1. I like how taggart is assembling an NFL defensive staff
  2. He is basically a 2nd Head Coach for the Defense.. I don't remember where I read it, but I read that CWT wanted someone with experience at DC who could basically be his 2nd HC. Not sure if we need his recruiting.. seems like the other coaches will haul in the kids and people like Bresnahan will coach 'em up.
  3. He was DB coach at LSU, former HC of Eastern Michigan, former HC of Louisville, former HC of alabama A&M http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=28715&SPID=2164&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=3641489&Q_SEASON=2011
  4. Let's get recently departed Jesuit coach James Harrell (who worked under Weiner) or Berkeley coach Dominick Ciao (who was Weiner's superior at jesuit).. or Sean Callahan (with all the armwood violations, he might bolt out of armwood like pete carroll did at usc to seattle)
  5. Raheem Morris please. Has been a DC at kstate. Brings in local name back to the region
  6. OMG, here we go again! I hope he is using us as a stepping stone, that means he wishes to be successful and advance in his career. +1 Can't wait until we are known as THE place to come because you'll soon be moving on to a great promotion! +2 i never said us being a stepping stone was a bad thing. it means he would be doing something positive here
  7. Make no mistake about this hire-- Weiner was brought in ONLY for recruiting. the "WR coach" is simply for semantics to get him on staff. it's a great move for Weiner. the reasons why he probably left for USF: 1. even in this "WR coach" position, he probably makes more money than h.s. 2. he doesn't have to move and uproot his family 3. he makes in-roads for a coaching career in college football 4. he's done everything he can at the h.s. level (4 state titles in 9 years!!) good for him and good for us!! but honestly, i can see him using usf as a stepping stone for another college coaching job.
  8. Im actually surprised he left only for a position coach job. I thought he'd leave for a coordinator position. Makes you wonder how crappy h.s. coaches get paid
  9. I was thinking the same thing... He's got a great gig at Stanford, that's a nice part of Cali, and he recruits for one of the top schools in the world, let alone the US.... I don't think its a situation that no one wants to come here, but I would have to think about it before I moved across the US to take a job that will take me away from my family even more.... hell, I'm torn about taking a job in Virginia Beach due to the relocation..... not an easy choice I'm sure I agree but getting a shot at a DC position is a big promotion. Even if its at a nonBCS big east school. Just the upgrade in responsibilities enhances ones resume.
  10. UL got Charlie Strong USF got Skip Holtz **** you judy and doug for being late in creating the joel miller/jim leavitt controversy too late. should've nabbed charlie when we had the chance.
  11. just take 'em all... eff this shizz already. it's like the fiscal cliff-- just watch our dollars burn baby burn
  12. with the exception of their Conference, i don't think they are sitting any prettier than we are. They got a new coach just like us.. they will forever be a bottom-of-the-barrel conference team I made that comment about asiantii because I never believed the hype from the beginning. Just because he performed well in the Elite 11 competition doesn't do anything to wet my whistle. It's how he does on the field.. he led his team to a 4-6 season.
  13. Let him go.. another Carlton Hill if you ask me.. athlete that just so happens to play QB. Didn't his team go like 4-6 on the season this year? iF he was so good, he could have led them to the playoffs at least. Bring in Akeem Jones, give me a LEADER, not someone with a good 40-yd dash time and a rocket arm that performs well in skills competitions.
  14. It took the dumpsterfire that was Skip Holtz to show how clueless Judy Woolard really is
  15. I really like this idea. the problem is revenue split, not enough to go around. IMO form a 10 team conference...all sports..come up with a championship game with the MWC...9/10 times the winner will go to a BCS bowl Thats what you don't understand-- you are thinking too short term. of course with the current contract intact, there isnt enough money to go around. but what do we do, just stand here and keep taking it in the behind?! my restructuring and creating of a coast-to-coast conference would be set up to create excitement across media markets across america for FUTURE television contracts. we can't think about NOW, now we are screwed. we gotta restructure for the future. thinking about now is like obama plugging a leaky fiscal boat with a bunch of chewing gum.. i say, screw now/this boat-- let it sink. let's start launching the safety boats, cut our losses, and reinvent ourselves
  16. I really like this idea. I really like this idea. What kind of schedule would we end up with? This is just a rough draft proposal-- but everyone plays each team in their division at least once (that's 4 games).. then 3 games vs 1 team in each of the other 3 divisions that you are not in: grand total of 7 games in the "Big America" conference. fill the rest of the games with OOC opponents/BCS conference opponents. at the end of the year, set aside 2 wks for a "Big America" final 4 playoff system.. winner most likely wins a BCS payoff bid.
  17. if you watch the youtube link i put up, he specifically said that USF has showed interest in him.. which means they know who he is
  18. I keep telling you all.. we gotta get strength in numbers.. 20-team league, coast-to-coast.. 4 divisions of 5 teams, with a 4-team playoff at the end. if we (big east) keep standing pat with their current generic conference model, it does no good. we gotta reinvent the conference NOT FOR NEXT YEAR, but for future years-- creating a buzz to attract a TV deal
  19. http://youtu.be/g52lxUCooRk God, he sounds mature as hell and sounds like Ray Lewis with his intensity.. true leader
  20. We gotta want more than what Leavitt brought to us with those jiffy lube bowl games. But if we got back to that, it would be a nice change.
  21. Guys, BJD was a 4-star QB coming out of high school-- arguably the best senior QB in the state the year he graduated. To say he wasn't D-1A talent is ridiculous.. he got offers from a lot of major programs. we misused him
  22. i think the MISUSE of BJD is a lot to blame for the lack of offense.. he should have played more of a pat white role our weak defense is mostly to blame
  23. This. Taggart wants big boy WRs so they can run block. Basically, Taggart wants smallish TEs at WR. Andre Davis should fit in perfectly, if he let's Taggart drive. I miss Huey Whittaker
  24. Leavitt - JOB 1 - Win the Conference - FAIL. Holtz - JOB 1 - Win the Conference - FAIL. Taggart-JOB 1 -Win the Conference - ??? **** Of course now it's also a completely different conference. 3 years ago, Tulane, Temple, E carolina, etc, would have been considered tune up games. Now, they are conference foes, meaning they can beat us! Quite a few steps backwards has this once skyrocketing program taken. There's never been a point in our history where 1A games like that would have, realistically, been considered tune up games ... I respectfully disagree. A few years ago, we would've been pretty heavily favored against any of those teams. This year AND MAYBE next and beyond, not so much. But I'm glad you guys are happy about the direction of the program. At least someone will be in the seats at RayJay. +1 We recently lost our first game against a non-BCS opponent since joining the Big East. +2 Going into those games we all had the expectation of a win, and I think that's what he meant. The expectation of winning is part of a winning culture, and I'm disappointed with the "we have to take our lot in life" mentality that some of the core posters/mods on this board have sunk to. That is NOT the mentality that Leavitt EVER had, and it's NOT the mentality that ANY successful individual or institution has ever had. GO BULLS!! +3 those games were most definitely tune ups. Even the bowl games where we played ECU Memphis and NIU I thought were relatively gimme bowl games. It is so sad as a fan base that some believe games vs ECU, Tulane, and Temple are no longer gimme games.
  25. We will never know how BJ would be if he had a different coach. I hope Willie T puts the priority on a QB that is a good decision-maker I really don't care if my QB can run a 4.5 or can throw the ball 80 yds down field, i want someone who can sit back there and lead and make quick decisions
