  1. I'm not sure that holds true any longer. I remember being in Clearwater for a tournament game. After a guy walked on 4 pitches the next batter swung at the first pitch. Growing up that was a no-no. But a player's father heard me say something about that and he told me that that unwritten rule doesn't hold any longer. He said if you get a good pitch you swing at it. (The guy did swing at a pitch that was nowhere near the strike zone). This was probably 10 years ago. Times and philosophies change I suppose. You see pros taking huge swings with 2 strikes on them - not just try to make contact. There are a few guys around that still do it but they are in the minority.
  2. Another skinny kid. European kids don't lift.
  3. She'll fit right in. I kid, I kid. But speaking of shooting percentages, Carla shot 30 and Blasigh 33% so far this year.
  4. Would guess Emma is 6'3 or 6'4 from standing next to her.
  5. This was more impressive than the other one. Don't think she'll play a traditional center position though, at least she didn't appear to be doing that. One thing I noticed that I was going to comment on was that she never finished with her left but then the last 15 seconds did show a couple. If she's legit 6'3" she could be a good addition.
  6. I always keep in mind that these are highlight reels. I can't remember seeing anyone taller than Emma so I wonder how tall she is. There may have been one blowout game early in the season when she got on the court but can't swear to it.
  7. Had to go back and try to find my first MBB game. Appears to have been Jan, 2006. Villanova came to town ranked 6th. I was a 'nova fan at the time and went to watch. They had Kyle Lowry and Randy Foye. Their 3rd good guard was out with an injury, Allan Ray. The Bulls played hard and missed a tying 3 at the buzzer to send it into OT. When I left the dome I was a Bulls fan. Probably have had season tickets about 30 - 40% of the time since then. Didn't have them this year but will probably get them next season.
  8. Of the current group she is definitely the go to. Come next year hopefully he'll have her, Sami, Amy and possibly Blasigh is she gets her head back on right. Bigs are the concern next year as it stands. Transfer portal will have to supply some of them.
  9. What are you going to celebrate with? Keep those deliveries coming.
  10. What impresses me about this team is how they can win with different styles. Early in the season we seemed to get up and down the court. As the season progressed the opponents tried to play more physical. We adapted to that and are winning games at a slower pace. Just a great season already with hopefully more to come.
  11. @Brad you may want to put disclaimers in these betting threads. If I lose money based on recommendations here I may be contacting you and you would then need to reach out to the lawyers on here for defense.
  12. Beta should have been demolished when our daughter started in '02. I know it went thru renovations shortly after that.
  13. Never realized this thread started a year ago.
  14. I see some B1G schools are zero. Would I be correct in assuming that students then pay for tickets to games?
  15. Thanks. Son-in-law already texted about going to NOLA. We may try to make that one. Enjoy that city for short periods. Outside chance for So Miss since we could stay in Biloxi and get to the game in just a couple of hours from there. Other possibilities are FAU and Charlotte.
  16. Yep. It was a tongue in cheek statement. We may be in need of a center next year with Evelyn leaving. Not sure if Emma will be back. Mbuutu (sp?) has done okay in limited minutes but not sure if she'll be starting next year.
  17. Believe your assumptions are correct. One would think that when recruiting, the coach of the USA team would have some weight in recruiting future college softball players.
  18. Will be interesting to see if this gig helps more than the USA softball coach position has.
  19. Welcome to the Bullspen. Look forward to having her (and the family) join our Bulls family. There is a decent number of diehard WBB fans at USF who love all our players. I agree with your observation that we can't expect too much from an incoming FR right out of the gate. But we sure hope she becomes a big contributor. Any chance she can grow 5 or 6 inches over the summer?
  20. You're right. Not sure you can consider any AAC team a mid major. But we may move up to that level when we enter the ACC.
  21. Snarky? Really didn't think so but being from NJ it may just come naturally. Trip is appreciating my attempts at humor. Get on the bandwagon. The Mrs is coming along. 13 months into this process and she's starting to walk around the house without a walker or cane. Uses a cane when we leave the house. Still doing therapy twice a week. Thanks for asking.
