  1. Marketing USF sports is like trying to market to a dead guy. "Come on, man, wake up". "You really need to wake up" "You're going to miss a lot of cool **** if you don't wake up". "There is a new and improved Sun Dome and men's basketball made the tourney last year". "USF soccer is really good. Made the Elite 8 last year". "Women's softball made it to the college world series". "Men's baseball was 1 game away from making the college world series". "FSU is coming to town to play USF in football". Nope, still dead.
  2. So doesn't it partially kill the purpose of an on campus stadium if people are tailgating elsewhere and just coming on campus to watch the game?
  3. That does cover all sports however. And it isn't close to what we've paid for Baseball, basketball and football season tix. Just sayin' that you need retail paying customers.
  4. You're getting closer to us. We're in 239. Ricky the Bull has been in that section as well. We only allow people named "Ricky" into that section however. You'll have to change your name to something like RickET
  5. Re: the increase in student attendance from page 1, I'd be curious to know what percentage of the students living on campus already regularly attend games. Found this while searching the WWW for number of students living on campus: Student Residences Approximately fifteen percent of the students at USF live in dormitories; most students live in private residences, instead. The university is working to increase the number of students living in university-owned housing, however, by instituting a new rule stating that students under the age of 21 who are unmarried, do not have any dependents, and do not live with a parent or guardian must live in student housing and participate in a meal plan for at least their first year of college. There are three basic options for students living in the residence halls at USF: traditional, suite, and apartment-style. All residences are air conditioned with cable television, ethernet connections, and wireless internet service. Rates vary depending on the residence and room, suite, or apartment chosen. Living in the “Greek Village†also counts as an on-campus residence. Greek life is a major component of the culture at USF, with 29 active fraternities and 21 active sororities. http://www.stateuniversity.com/universities/FL/University_of_South_Florida.html If that 15% is roughly correct and there are what, 40k students, that is about 6,000 possible students that live on campus that could attend a game without getting in their car. Would you argue that most of the surrounding apt complex students would walk to the game instead of taking a shuttle? There is a shuttle available to Ray Jay, correct? My point is for those arguing that attendance will increase greatly, you need to consider how many additional students would show up. Plus you can ask why basketball attendance of students as always sucked. The Sun Dome is on campus, correct? Just bringing up some things that have to go into the discussion. Not saying it would hurt attendance of students but questioning the actual increase. Plus, would a smaller stadium have a smaller student section? I know they "pay" through fees, but you need some real paying customers to make a stadium work.
  6. So, I quickly looked back through the thread. Has anyone announced a number of season tickets sold to date? Apologize if I missed it.
  7. From today's Tampa Bay Times: USF leads the way Message board chatter has criticized USF for not recruiting Tampa Bay hard enough. The numbers suggest otherwise. The Bulls have offered 32 area recruits. That's eight more than the No. 2 team (Florida Atlantic), 18 more than anyone else in the Big East and 14 more than UCF. State school offers USF 32 Florida Atlantic 24 UCF 18 Florida International 15 Florida State 14 Miami 12 Florida 9 Bethune-Cookman 6 Florida A&M 4 I wonder what message board they are speaking of. So to all of you that whine like little girls about us not recruiting our area, please stop. I'm sure the next response will be, but we don't "land" many of them. That's what happens when you aren't sitting at the adult table at Thanksgiving. It won't change until you become an adult.
  8. FCSH's last sentence on the vid was the dreaded "....by committee". HWGA
  9. I've been wondering about this as well. I have friends that I've told I'll be able to get tickets for. Didn't they promise us 4 extras if we re-upped our season tix by 4/30?
  10. So ET, how are things coming along with you?
  11. Will Craig honor coupons ? Well Craig? I know you lurk at times.
  12. Bulls Outfitter has always been the place to go for us.
  13. I can't get my index finger and pinkie to curve like that. ****.
  14. Stay off the Board for a week and come back to see this. Hope the recovery goes well and that you are fine by opening day kickoff (or sooner) :GoBulls:
  15. After a 1 - 6 year and his wife saying "Who would have him", a raise (although that part was minimal) and an extension seem to be mis-timed at best. I like the Heath move though. I've said for years that the basketball coaching carousel needed to stop and let one guy get entrenched in the job. I don't know if BB reaches the tournament again this year, but Heath proved he can coach. If Holtz doesn't work out, Schiano is close by.
  16. As for the size, I wasn't sure when it was Lamar or one of the rug rats. About the same size.
  17. Great year to be a Bulls fan. Fabulous video. A random thought while I watched that. That Notre Dame football game was only last year? The way the year played out it seems like 2 or 3 years ago. But basketball, soccer, golf, softball and even baseball were very good this year. Other than golf, got to see all of those teams play.
  18. Sherrif, as a Sixers fan, AI is one of the hardest working players I have ever seen play in professional sports. I was a huge fan of him. Gave it all every game and that is why he was loved in Philly. I thought I was the only Sixers fan left on the planet. Can't believe there are a couple others on here. Of course I'm old enough to remember the 9 win season. Listened on radio (or watched those that were televised) every single game that year. Worse than being a UCiF fan.
  19. Seats being sold was never the problem. People using the tickets was the issue. I asked a few years back about the availability of lower bowl opposite the student section. Even though there was rarely anyone in the seats I was told that they were all sold. So look for this to happen in the future, but my guess is moreso on the club seat side.
  20. Barring injury, I don't see him playing much let alone starting. BJ is the starter and, if he stays healthy, they will try to redshirt him and use the Evelds and Floyd for fill-in, mop-up duty. BJ will be gone. Head slap to myself. Mind hasn't been in the game lately.

  22. My hope is that Athletics, the University, and the city of Tampa/Hillsborough County can all work together to improve the area between the campus up to the Claw along 46th street. Put in sidewalks and perhaps a pedestrian bridge, so that it's all linked together and gives the school a bigger presence. I agree with that. I was thinking about that as well. The Golf team just got a sweet new Mercedes van to travel in, which im sure they use to travel to and from The Claw from the Lee Roy Selmon Athletic Facility (I love saying that.) I think 46th needs to be more pedestrian friendly, maybe do what they did on 42nd by adding sidewalks and better street lighting. The whole area on the north side of campus (42nd and 46th) and along Fletcher need to be emcompassed by the university in terms of making streets more pedestrian friendly and more of a true student housing feel. 42nd has had major improvements already. Of course, as was already discussed, the biggest improvement to that whole area will be finally demolishing Fontana Hall, followed up by getting John Knox out of there. Some of us have elderly parents that are looking to go there. The highest rated facility of its kind in the Bay area.
  23. Looks like in the second pic there are a lot of seats left in those two lower sections. The yellow tags are for women's basketball. You need to look closely for the white tags for the men's season tickets. They had 2 tags on each seat.
  24. I got Row C, Sec 114 today, also near the center. Don't be spilling beer on my head, now... There are only a few club seats left, and they are located beyond the endline. This put me in a huge quandry but in the end, I chose the crappier seats in the Club section ... hope I don't regret it. I don't think you can go wrong there, Trip. The sight lines from the corner angles were still pretty nice and the seats are pretty darned comfy. I almost made the change to the club area before I left. I don't think I can either but you know how buyer's remorse can sometimes be. I am on the end where we shoot last and jus low enough to be in the rows that appeared to have a little more leg room than the higher rows ... You are kidding, right? You have seats in the amazing Club section of a vastly improved Sun Dome anticipating a season from a team that has shown real life for the first time in 20 years. As a USF basketball fan, there can't be anything wrong about that. Count your blessings. Look forward to seeing you and some 10,000 odd other faithful followers at the games this year. Shirley you jest. Opening night and maybe one or two BE games if we are playing well.
  25. In speaking with one of the Associate ADs regarding football students and academics, although the SATs of incoming freshmen isn't significantly higher since Skip came in, they seem to be different type students in that they are more concerned about academics. So this upward trend should continue in the near future.
