  1. I thought extra cash was involved. Is every BE team forced to play a Thur night game as part of the contract? That's why I'm asking. Thought more cash was involved but IDK
  2. We all know that the RU game was originally scheduled for Sat and was changed to Thursday night. Does any one know how much more money we received for offering ourselves up for slaughter? Can't believe it can be significantly more but would be interested.
  3. That's funny. Because I thought we started running more of a pre set with Skip. Shows what I know. Probably it is a combination of things, thus the no identity.
  4. You're staying in Lansing? East Lansing. Only a couple of miles from stadium. Hampton Inn - 3 rooms
  5. For anyone interested, Hilton's website has those dates open. Marriott does not.
  6. We just made hotel reservations this week. Will be going with friends from down here. One couple, the guy is a grad of MSU and promises us a prime tailgate with friends of his. He comes to some USF games and cheers for us except for that game. So it will just a friendly rivalry game.
  7. Just watching ND @ Michigan State. Very scary that we will have a first time QB, no matter who it may be, starting their first road game at that stadium. Sounds really, really loud there.
  8. Actually Landi looked pretty elusive way back in that spring game. He's put on a lot of weight to play tight end from where he was 4 years ago.
  9. Remember how crazy this Board got when Kamran Joyer didn't pass muster with the Academics Committee? He is now a red shirt junior standing on the sidelines for L'ville and I only saw him in the game for the last kneel down after the starter got hurt. He least he is now on the 2 deep.
  10. New city slogan. Tampa - we now have our own Silicone Valley.
  11. BJ is great at running read option. he ran it to perfection against UF for a quarter and a half. over 100 rushing in first half. and then we decided to throw the ball...... Correct. When he was a recruit he was the 8th best dual threat - not "traditional" (or whatever term they use) QB. Skip has spent 3 years trying to make him a drop back QB.
  12. They have been running the same plays for, what, 3 years now? There are no other plays to run. What you see is what you get. Stop drinking the tequila so early in the day.
  13. Taking away? Do you guys still not realize that he was going to Nebraska anyway? Carnes just wanted USF in his back pocket in case Nebraska didn't come through. USF coaches didn't want to be used. Wake up a smell the coffee. The competition that I was referencing was Landi. The thread is about Carnes. But as much as we love the guy, Landi wasn't competition for Daniels at the QB spot. The fact that a true freshman walk on was appointed the #2 QB should be clue enough. I believe the dearth of talent at wide receiver forced Landi to the outside. He was willing and he was a body. I don't think our record over the past few years would be substantially different with him at QB.
  14. We don't pay anything in donations and ticket prices compared to big time college football schools. A friend who is a gator fan pays $20,000 per year per ticket for the Right to then pay for the tickets. Even if you are an Iron Bull at $10,000 per year for the right to buy 8 tickets at midfield it isn't even close to that. You're comparing apples to oranges. The Bulls are not the Gators. The BE is the not SEC. I still expect to see better effort for whatever I have to pay. First, you don't have to pay anything. You choose do that. And I don't question the effort of the kids. I'm with you on the coaches though.
  15. I watched the UF-USF game with my SAE buddy in his uncles Bull Gator seats at midfield. He told me that his uncle pays $25K per year for the rights to those four seats. Ticket prices are in addition to the donation level of Bull Gator. Does your friend have alot better seats, because I was directly on the 50 yard line. I think we were in a section reserved for Bull Gator's where we actually caught some shade late in the game that sweltering day. Don't know where they are. But I asked him twice because I was shocked. Maybe he's senile, but he told me $20K per seat.
  16. Fire Holtz Fire Lanaris ??? Fire our DC Fire our AD Keep Genshaft out of it Pray that Woulard signs and start him as a freshmen QB next year If, after this season, we are 1 - 6 again in BE play agree that the coaches should go. But the AD's job is more than just the football team. The athletic facilities we have on campus now are close to spectacular. He was responsible, at least in part, for that. Our other athletic programs are doing well overall. Even the "fire Stan Heath" chants have stopped for now and basketball enjoyed a fine year last year. After the craziness that was the year of Leavitt's leaving, I don't think anyone thought that the hiring of Holtz was horrible. I remember seeing Doug (AD) after the signing of Holtz and he looked like crap. He worked his tail off making calls, visiting coaches, doing is vetting and, when all was said and done, made a decision that seemed reasonable. Sometimes things don't work out. It wasn't from lack of research and effort. He isn't a friend of mine so this isn't a personal defense of the man. But I did speak with him a bit about the process. I just hope that he has the cajones to fire a coach when it is called for. We may be getting close to that in baseball and, possibly, football (depending on the results at the end of this year). More likely Skip will get at least another year after this with "his" QB and mostly his recruits. Although Skip could argue that his 1st recruiting class wasn't really his class. So even more likely, if Woulard comes in to be our QB, Skip gets 2 years after this to right the ship.
  17. Agree to some extent. People that don't have a personal tie to the school will look at it that way. You would hope that alumni wouldn't bail because of poor performance. Realistically there are only about 15 - 20 schools that have a legit shot at national championships year in and year out. If all the other school's donors bailed because they weren't winning championships it would be sad, IMO.
  18. Ball State -- W FSU -- W Temple -- W Louisville -- W Cuse -- W UCONN -- W Miami -- W Cinci -- W Pitt -- W Never let it be said I'm not an optimist.
  19. Watching that game as well. They are just running it, wait for it, right up the middle. Temple game is our only hope of a BE win this year. How can you say that after Pitt lost to a FCS team and is beating the crap out of #13 VT, up 21 points in under 20 minutes? I just don't get the mentality of most that post on this board. I say that because we can't stop the run of the middle. Pitt will do it all day long. Maybe we beat U Conn? But we better win at Temple.
  20. Holtz should have pulled him from the game for getting blown up almost the entire night. The play above may have been a response to what the DL with Rutgers was doing inside to him and his brethren by the RU DL. Unfortunately, the RU folks won't want to show those instances so I'll give him a pass on this but not his overall play. If we didn't have another option at center, I could see why they left him in. I personnally would like to see the close ups of the Rutgers DL on USF's OL to see exactly what was happening in that scrum for the entire game. This RU puke that keeps lurking around here d may not like it though. Yeah the thought occurred to me that it was probably retaliation for something, but I don't think it really matters, personally. Two wrongs, and all that. This was a dirty hit that could have done serious injury and it was totally uncalled for, away from the ball with the guy's back turned to him. Nothing the Rutgers guy could have done justifies that. If a Rutgers player had done the same thing to a USF player, I know I'd be calling for his head. There are cheap shots, and then there are specific attempts to hurt someone. This is definitely the latter. And you KNOW this because of this short little clip? You've ascertained his state of mind from that? Please!! It must be possible, remember the fumble forward call? Obviously from the film they knew that that play had been practiced and was deliberate.
