  1. Different offensive coordinator and system. The way it was explained to me was that a play was called in the huddle that had 2 pass and 1 run option (or vice versa) and then receivers and QB looked to the sideline to see which option to run based on what they saw from the defense.
  2. Remember the 1st spring game when BJ and Landi were first here. Didn't see a big difference between the two at that scrimmage. At least Landi was tall enough to see over the middle.
  3. Watching that game as well. They are just running it, wait for it, right up the middle. Temple game is our only hope of a BE win this year.
  4. No, he wasn't. But it was getting close. Some of the big supporters were seriously pissed about that 31 - 0 debacle at Rutgers. Well most of the larger donors I know are pissed at Woolard (as well Holtz and crew) for giving Holtz an extension. Remember that donors are not under contract, if that money starts to dry up, we are in big trouble. I don't doubt that that is true. And it will have an effect on donors going forward. One of USF's problems is that we don't have that many large donors. And they are squeezing them. Overheard a conversation of one of them how he is getting tired of the constant contacts about giving more. At a football game, you can count the number of donors who give the $10K per year just by counting them on the small scoreboard as they list them. Didn't do it at the Rutgers game and probably won't at the FSU game unless it it totally out of hand by halftime. But my guess is we're talking about 50 - 60. And some of our large donors don't have any real ties to the school other than they live, or their businesses are located, in the area. Gonzmarts (Columbia Restaurant) come to mind.
  5. We don't pay anything in donations and ticket prices compared to big time college football schools. A friend who is a gator fan pays $20,000 per year per ticket for the Right to then pay for the tickets. Even if you are an Iron Bull at $10,000 per year for the right to buy 8 tickets at midfield it isn't even close to that.
  6. 1. We NEVER win on Thursday night, please help, we should not have been here, it was a late add. So you really do believe in curses and that we just really aren't the better team just because it is a Thursday. 2. We NEVER prepare for Rutgers defense. Part of the reasoning we got shredded against Nevada was that we didn't waste time preparing for them because we were concentrating on Rutgers. 3 and 4 are true.

  8. The (a)'s I don't give a rat's butt about. Wins and losses are what's matter, not whether it is home or away. To be fair, we hadn't played ND before (at least not since I've been following the team)? So hard to use that in a comparison. We'll find out in two weeks about FSU. And that bolded thing is 1 - 6. That seems to stand out more than anything else on the list.
  9. Well if you're stubborn enough to just insist there were no good plays made by the defense, it's not hard to understand why. It's possible to both be really disappointed with a loss AND not think that every single thing about every single facet of the team absolutely sucks. The pass defense sucked big time, especially in the second half, and it plus an inept short passing attack cost USF the game. What is gained by adding more hyperbole onto that fact? Does it make you feel better? May have misunderstood my tone. I wasn't being sarcastic. I was serious that I thought it was good you could find the good in the game. I couldn't bring myself to re-watch the game today. I'm sure there were good plays and some good individual efforts. But I just wasn't thinking of any of that after the game or today.
  10. IMO, I still believe this is a philosophical thing with Skip. He continually says that you just need to win by 1 point. Problem with playing to keep the game close is that with one turnover (or 5) you find yourself in a bind. He (OK, Fitch with Skips approval) calls plays and game plans to not lose games and to keep it close. I have no idea if they can coach or not. You sure don't see a lot of progress from year to year in many of the players. But, then, I'm sure they don't teach Landi to have a ball go off his hands, Mitchell to have a ball ripped from his hands, BJ to throw behind Murray (live action I thought it was just a muff by Murray but the ball wasn't thrown well when I saw it on TV). I just can't believe they don't teach those fundamentals. So then you have to look at the players. All in all this just seems to be a combination of game planning, play calling and performance. Tough to win a conference title with all those things going on. How do you get from beating Notre Dame at their place 54 weeks ago to where the program is now?
  11. I thought the same thing live. Shocked they didn't flag us for that hit. Our best defensive play all night was the yellow flag from the refs. On passing plays, sure. The run defense was pretty good, especially in the second half, save for the clinching touchdown. There were some nice tackles for loss. Always the optimist. Good for you. Seriously. I didn't come away with much in the way of warm and fuzzy feelings last night.
  12. Hard to tell when they are playing a Div II school. Okay, we aren't a D II program, but we did stay at a Holiday Inn Express the night before the game.
  13. Reasonable. This is what my point was above. We have talent. Before last night if I had to bet I'd have guessed ten wins, but fat chance getting me to pick against them in any individual game because if we played to our ability I'd think there was a chance. Now I'd probably say 7 easy, possibly 8 or 9 if we can fix the lines on both sides of the ball. But besides FSU, if I stay and play that prediction game, I'm not so sure I'll pick us to lose any of them. because that's easy to do during the year while you are fighting injuries, game planning for the next team, etc. The time to get that **** straightened out was at Vero. You will see no significant improvements during the year. That isn't to say we won't play inferior teams and win some battles on the line. But when we play good teams, you will get the same results. Stop writing posts that actually make sense I apologize. Let's try it again. Both the defensive and offensive lines will make strong improvements over the course of the next few weeks because a fan on the bulletin board says it can be fixed by St. Skip and his staff. We will suddenly be able to run for 175 yards per game and BJ Daniels will have all the time in the world to sit in the pocket and deliver strikes to our suddenly wide open receivers. While on the other side of the ball, we will stop the run up the middle and start to cover receivers that are less than 10 yards downfield when it is 3rd and 7. Better?
  14. Glad you guys posted this stuff. I went to my account and discovered that I got my 4 tickets in the row directly behind ours. So all 12 of us will be in 3 rows. Good stuff.

  17. Back to the subject of the thread. Think we impressed the reps with our attendance and our play?
  18. As much as people like to think it has an effect; standing, screaming, clapping or whatever never makes a tackle or completes a pass. Some of our biggest wins have been on the road with home crowd at a deafening level. Maybe we should start screaming when our offense has the ball and they'll think they are on the road. Could translate to more home wins. </sarcasm>
  19. I was thinking a 35 point loss. So we are close. No matter the line. Take FSU and give the points.
  20. Do we expect to see anything different in our offensive play calling next year with Asianti (sp?). Fitch has one play book and, by God, you will run those plays. Peyton Manning or Cam Newton? Doesn't matter, we are running these plays no matter the skill set of the QB. I just don't see any difference next year if we have the same off. coordinator.
  21. Noticed the same thing in my abbreviated re-watching of the game.
  22. if he is the future he needs to play now so he is ready next year we cant win with bj as qb move bj to rb or receiver as i said in an earlier thread bj experiment is over Problem with trying to move him now is that he's a senior and they've gone through camp. No way he picks up a new position at this stage of his career.
  23. There are not thousands of people in the club section during the game. There may be a hundred or so. You mostly see moms with kids or some old folks trying to cool off. But most of those people you don't see in the seats aren't in the building. And to the guy that said something about the people having access snobs, not really. I bumped our donation level to get access when my wife almost passed out 2 weeks in a row, one at FAU and the next week home v UCF. Nothing to do with being snobs.
