  1. Just reupped and may be looking to add some seats. Still treating these season ticket purchases like a stock purchased with disposable income: Buy more now while blood is in the water in hopes that longterm performance will improve. Looking forward to a Bull market for a change.
  2. If you are just joining the Bulls Club getting seats for this game through USF could be tough. Being a Thanksgiving weekend game could help you out and make it possible. You'll put in a request and they'll let you know if you get them. You have to give credit card info when you put in your request and they charge it if you get them. They don't come back and ask a 2nd time. The priority points formula is pretty simple: Donate a reasonable sum of money and you'll probably get seats in the USF block Donate a lot more money and you'll get better seats in the USF block Donate a sh_tload of money and Judy will fly you to the game on a private jet and you can sit on Doug's lap in the AD's suite.
  3. I think the scheduling is a mistake for a lot of reasons (although perhaps not as brain dead and disrepectful as one of the last remaining Big East members being sent to a potential ice bowl game at Rutgers to end the year). I commute to work in Orlando but this will likely be among the few away games that I do not attend this season.
  4. Use it to secure payment on a Money Back Guarantee for new donation dollar$ that will be refunded if we don't have a winning record in football.
  5. Got my tickets along with the baseball birthday promotion flyer. Nice gig. Maybe I'll get 50 friends together for beers and baseball on my natal anniversary and hope a consistent power hitter or two pops out of the cake.
  6. Well we're building the school's academic reputation on the 98 kids who play football and basketball as opposed to the 30 or 40,000 who just generally attend college. The reverse of Duke. Didn't you get the memo? Well we're building the school's academic reputation on the 98 kids who play football and basketball as opposed to the 30 or 40,000 who just generally attend college. The reverse of Duke. Didn't you get the memo? If we could just build the academic reputation based on mental acuity of contributors to this message board, then we really have something.
  7. I suspect paying the athletes is going to happen sooner rather than later. I also think it will be the coup de grace in the the top conferences' campaign to kill off potential competition from upstart programs like USF that won't be able to afford the ante to stay in the game. The money grubbing aspect of college sports is bad enough now and just getting worse. When pay for play begins, that is when I will get off the wagon and find somewhere else to spend my donor and ticket money.
  8. Last night's MBB offensive performance made me nostalgic for last year's football offense. Just awful.
  9. Wow! Shocking that we let FSU pull recruits out of this area. I'll be really ticked if the Bucs get any players we could have used.
  10. I usually go to this game with some of my UCF friends so we can fully appreciate each other's suffering and I can avoid temptating vandalism to any of my vehicles, all of which are decked out daily in USF regalia.
  11. Starts at 5 pm and MBB game is at 7. BBQ somewhere in between.
  12. So far it has been a good, solid second Christmas. Got most everything on our list but haven't yet gotten any of those great, shiny surprise gifts to fall into our lap. Still, given all the circumstances, a strong effort.
  13. I am inquiring re all this as well. I for one think we need to keep our donor benefits program, particulary the priority points system, sacred.
  14. It's good to see there was excitement and demand for the event. For those feeling left out and unable to call in any favors, I'm sure it is nothing a big donation check couldn't fix. Heck, for the right amount, I'd let somebody have my place and a club seat to the MBB game.
  15. I'm planning to go up. Got a nice house on Lake Michigan lined up. Just glad this one is not in November.
  16. I want to thank all those who took time to respond. Much of this was very helpful and will be communicated. Keep it coming. I'm not in any position to make any promises other than that the Bulls Club will effort to build better bonds with its alumni and supporters. One idea I would like to dispel is that our major donors just give their money and then walk away and don't personally support athletics. Most of the big donors I know are truly invested in the University. Many of them donate to more than athletics. They attend not only many sports events but lots of other University events as well. On top of that, they also tend to volunteer time for the University and do a lot to promote the welfare and reputation of the University. I have found over the past 40 years that athletics often serves as the gateway for folks to become more connected to their alma mater and then they tend to become more and more engaged. I know that for most of us these days it is hard to spare more money, much less time, to help support USF; however, I found that as I made more efforts to reach out and help, the more that the University staff and other supporters reached out to me to make me feel an important part of the Bulls family. I started out long ago as just a fan, then a student, then an alumnus, then a donor and multiple-sport season ticket holder. Now I have become much more actively involved and my connection feels so much stronger. As in any family, there will always be things that frustrate me and just downright tick me off but I feel better at least trying to do my small part to improve things. It helps me keep a dream of greater days ahead.
  17. So you are saying it is better to have more good players than not-so-good players? "Ahhhhh, it's a profit deal!" ---- Navin Johnson, The Jerk
  18. I've heard from some pundits who seem to opine that the Bucs are the worst. They say Gruden only won it with Tony Dungy's team and then only because his buddy Bill Callahan sabotaged the might Raiders to throw the game for Gruden.
  19. Already bought four last year and got my latest edition Rays/Bulls hats.
  20. As a longtime donor and someone interested in building the donor support base I have a simple and serious question: Other than winning, what kind of things could the Bulls Club do that would convince you to increase your donations?
  21. The hits keep coming. First Jim Leavitt and Coach Taggart's "brothers" coaching in the game and now a former Sundoll, Victoria Vodar, joins Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco in a Toyota Super Bowl commercial as some average schmo's dream girl. Now that is great exposure! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKnuMIIEtoo
  22. For a high school kid out of Florida, I think a UCLA offer would be a head turner. LA may not be my kind of place but it would be a bright, shiny new world to a teenager. If USF is going to compete for top talent it this is part of the struggle.
