  1. McNeese State, Towson, AND Western Carolina? Are there still tickets left?
  2. Yeah, I agree with you and I never understood this. Who have we beaten lately that makes us think we are so much better than Tulane, Memphis and ECU? Only Tulane has a worse record than we do this year and ECU is going to a bowl....yes you can argue sos but whatever..... Something no one talks about while everyone is talking about the demise of BE, what about CUSA? Think we have it bad, how about LaTech, UTSA, FIU and the mean green as well as a FCS school Old dominion. Now they have to add two more.......yikes, I hear Armwood High is available. We're probably just a wee bit better than Tulane. They are 2-10, we are 3-9. They lost to Rutgers at home by 12, we lost to Rutgers at home by 10. Tulane would probably be 2-10 or maybe even get lucky and go to 3-9 with our schedule, only the losses wouldn't have been as close as ours.
  3. Actually, I'd say the opposite is true: No bowl tie-ins, no conference TV rights, and absolutely no prestige by going independent. If we had maintained and built on the type of team we had 5 years ago I might be more inclined to agree with you. We've lost the "anyone, anywhere, anytime" attitude and I seriously doubt we have the talent and (more likely) coaching to do it. Realistically, the best case scenario as an independent would be we get to play great teams on the road and get beaten 45-3 (thank God Skip kicked that field goal with 2 minutes left in the 4th) every week. What big name is going to come to RJS? At home, our schedule might consist of Ball State, North Texas, Grand Canyon State, etc. and we go 3-3 at best. What's the difference between going 3-9 independent or 3-9 in the Big East (hopefully 6-6 in the Big USA)? More than likely our entire schedule will consist of the aforementioned lower level FBS teams and probably a few FCS teams as filler. You think recruiting is bad now, what do we have to sell recruits? "You'll get to play against Jabroni State University in front of 9,000 people at Raymond James. You know, that place with the pirate ship and red seats where the Bucs are blacked out every week?" How do you think UCF, FAU, or FIU would do as an independent? What kind of clout do you think they would have negotiating a television contract? We're on the same level as them. BHSN Channel 47 will be THE channel of the USF Bulls. We have NO tradition, NO gameday experience to speak of, and a god awful product on the field. We'd likely lose the majority of our sponsorships as well, I don't think Verizon will want to continue hitching onto this crap wagon. [/Rant]
  4. I'd say add Air Force would be the second or third best choice for that seventh spot. Good rivalry with Navy and probably a better team than most of the other choices you listed there. I'd still take BYU first. Decent team but horrible road trip. UNLV would be my second choice. Horrible team but great roadtrip.
  5. He'll never quit. There's no quit in the man. Except for when he's coaching a football game, of course. However, he's never met a paycheck he couldn't cash.
  6. True, but sports is the reason we hire an AD and a HC. Their job is to keep their respective programs relevant and generating revenue. Both goals are in danger. Academics is the most important aspect of the university by far. But there is no denying that a good football or basketball program will do more to increase the awareness of the school than most anything else. It helps us remain visible to those out of state where our commercials don't play. In the long-term we need to become an attractive option for those outside of Florida.
  7. This should be our new conference logo... paint that thing on the field for games. or better yet, just set up a dumpster in the end zone and instead of "firing the canons", we can just light the dumpster when we score. If we light the dumpster only when we score, it may start to smell after not being lit for a few weeks. Unless we light it for field goals, too. Actually, it'd probably be more appropriate to keep it lit until we score, althought I'm sure we'd run out of garbage to throw into it at some point. We'd probably have to throw in those "USF Big East Champs '12" shirts they printed at the beginning of the season to keep it going.
  8. He'll wrangle the attitudes, all right. Within two years, Auburn football players won't give a **** anymore.
  9. Am I the only one worried that if the ACC/B12 look to take another FL team they offer to UCF instead? Orlando is by no means a small television market (#19 vs #14) they have been more successful in Football and Basketball the last few years, and the gameday atmosphere is better. In the national consciousness what's the difference between South Florida and Central Florida anyways? Since they've been invited to the new BE already, I'd think they'd look like a very attractive prospect. Is there anything preventing this from happening?
  10. I heard it was a broken ankle. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/blogs/recruiting/os-winter-park-qb-asiantii-woulard-breaks-ankle-usf-nc-state-20121109,0,5634424.post
  11. Can anyone legitimately make the arguments that: a. Asiantii Woulard is as good or better than BJ Daniels coming out of high school. b. This coaching staff can develop him properly. c. Skip will allow his system to accomodate a dual-threat quarterback. Regardless, will this really make a difference? In the very best-case scenario, we will have another guy like BJ Daniels for the next four years. Will that solve our woes? I think we need to be less concerned about Asiantii Woulard and more so about the other aspects about the program. What are we doing to take care of the defensive nightmares that have plagued us these past two seasons? Are we upgrading the talent in the secondary? More importantly, are we finding a competent coordinator or at least making adjustments to the system? Sure I'd love a good QB, but there's so much more wrong now. This staff just won't make adjustments and are doing nothing to convince me that anything is changing. I could care if we switch to a triple-option if that's where our strength would lie. You just can't overcome a bad D unless you have an offense that can score 50+ per game. With a good defense, you can run the ball 55 times a game and still win 7 or 8 times a year.
  12. If a fan starts a chant at a Bulls game and there is no one around to here it, do they still make a sound?
  13. Run a two-minute drill with BJ or pretend it's the last pass before the half. The interceptions will come in droves.
  14. Woolard handed us the death penalty by extending Holtz's contract.
  15. Oh, gawd McNeese State? They're gonna get revenge on us next year!
  16. Exactly. There's no better way to get fired than to see the history you're a part of.
  17. Urban Meyer and Ohio State, I think this was a great idea and wish we could get something similar going as our pre game or halftime ritual: http://m.youtube.com/index?&desktop_uri=%2F#/watch?v=PwWlvRKqhpI For those who don't watch the video or can't tell what's going on, the players mass in the end zone and lead the student section in Quick Cal drills. Great way to get them fired up and feel like part of the team.
  18. Ya know, I haven't been a Bulls fan as long as some people on this board. My first game was the double-overtime win against Louisville in 2003. But, by my calculations, that makes this my 10th season. I've seen some truly amazing things since then. The friends I've made, the history I've witnessed, and memories that will last a lifetime are thanks to this program. Bulls football means so much to me, maybe to the point and fanaticism. With the exception of the few times my work has made me pull shift on a Saturday, I never miss a home game and never leave before 00:00. Me and my wife agreed we will NOT be having our first child anytime September-January. After watching this video, I hope that every player and coach are required to watch this same thing so they understand the importance they play and the history they're a part of. I sincerely hope that none of our coaching staff has not watched this and aren't taking their role for granted. It's not just a football program, damnit. It's OUR football program and it's the only one we'll ever have. We pay for it, root for it, and shed our sweat and beer-soaked tears for it. I understand it's just a game, but this program is the embodiment of BULLS PRIDE and each and every person needs to fight their asses off to defend that pride. [/Rant] tl;dr version: Go Bulls!
  19. Although all of the recent topics about USF all-time/greatest players and moments, make for a feel good story, I need to swing the pendulum in the opposite direction to get ready for the potential beatdown this weekend. How about some of the Bull's all-time worst moments. Here are a few to get started: - Voodoo Five - Amp Hill's last-second dropped two-point conversion against Rutgers in '06 - Amarri Jackson "pass interference" to deny the field goal attempt against Rutgers in '07 - The Skip Holtz era
  20. Coach by committee. 'If you'd like to see USF run a screen play, text SCRN to 54675; if you'd like to see USF run a QB draw play, text DRAW to 54675. Standard text messaging rates apply, Verizon FiOS customers only.'
  21. I think Ean Randolph is a good value. I know he only played one year but he was Grothe's favorite target that year and led the team in receiving TDs. He had good sideline awareness and was a dangerous punt returner. I think he brought three punts to the house against FIU that year, but due to penalties, only one stood.
  22. We had more big plays in that one game than we've had in the entire Skip Holtz era...
  23. I saw the highlights of his most recent game. Not very impressed. Made a pretty bad read standing in the end zone and threw a pick six.
  24. This is the statistic that is now being erroneously reported regularly. USF is 1-10 all-time in Thursday games. The only time we won a Thursday game was August 29, 2002. USF - 51, Florida Atlantic - 10. We are 0-9 since that time. I believe the other game that is not cited is a loss to Northern Illinois (17 - 20) on 08/30/2001.
