We can say Saban was playing shenanigans with his team, their starting QB was out, blah blah blah, till we're blue in the face. I was most impressed that their OL didn't just simply run us over. That their DL didn't absolutely have a field day with our offensive front. Theoretically Bama has enough talent from being in the top 3 recruiting classes for almost 20 years that they should be able to run back ups out there and still win handily over a 1-11 team with what ended up being one of the nation's worst defenses. It at least showed what was possible, just lacking the overall depth on defense to be able to play like that week in, week out.

They're big. They're fast. They're strong. Just don't die out there fellas.

They tried to modify to 5+7 when it looked like the Pac12 was going to die for good and they didn't want the G5 to inherit an extra playoff spot. As long as the Pac is still alive and taking a P_ slot, there will always be at least 1 spot for the highest ranked G_ champ, if for no other reason than giving up 1 out of 12 slots to the poors is a good way to avoid being sued into oblivion.

There can't seriously be anybody amongst those schools that feel like being in the Big 12 will be demonstrably better than the ACC after FSU and Clemson leave. Yeah, I remember the (then) GF and I and a couple of friends we sat with absolutely geeking out when they came running out with the white helmets on because nobody had a clue that it was coming.

A bunch of friends and I road tripped to the first ever bowl game, couldn't miss it. Remember we tore it up at Bar Charlotte. One of our friends actually met her future husband there, as he started chatting her up and eventually asked her to ride the mechanical bull with him. We partied HARD. Remember chunks of the actual game. The punter's perfect pass up the seam. The defense forcing a turnover, then Carlton Hill fumbling the ball back the very next play. (I think the D forced another turnover right after that, but can't remember). It was a great trip. We had so much fun we road tripped the PapaJohns.com Bowl in Birmingham the next season with largely the same group (with a few new add-ons), and then we all hustled back the next day to make sure we were back in town for Christmas with our families. Those were good times, back when we were dumb college kids with very little concern for anything besides partying and USF football.

Absolutely. That's why there's been a push by players in the NFL to try to get the big early on, because the shelf life of a RB isn't long and NFL teams try to pay them that way.

Florida State is routinely in the top 10-20 teams in TV ratings for the year, at least for the handful of years I could pull up looking back. And they've only been further rising as Norvell has rebuilt the program. The biggest tripping block with Florida State is the same tripping block for the other top ACC targets: nobody knows just exactly how much getting them out of the GOR will cost. The Pac2 and Mountain West have already been in talks on a scheduling agreement to give Wazzou and the Beavs a full slate next year. They've essentially already opened the door to merging the MW under the Pac name. I think most likely scenario is the conference remaining a west coast conference.

If memory serves me well (it doesn't always), there's a BoT meeting next week at which VPMK said more information on the stadium would be made available. Watch for that agenda and you may end up seeing if we'll be getting renderings afterward

I wouldn't discount the idea of FSU to the B1G. They're a national brand, they draw eyeballs, and while not currently in the AAU, allegedly USF getting in before them lit a fire under some people's a$$es to get it done. Despite the lack of AAU status, they're still a pre-eminent school in the state, and if the B1G wanted a Florida brand that could compete with UF, they'd take Florida State before Miami IMO.

I believe the alleged number was $250K. Don't know if that's what got him to enter the portal or what was offered after he got in the portal. His dad said on Twitter/X that he never encouraged Brian to enter the portal, but once he was in the portal, he encouraged him to go to Auburn. Either way, shortsighted to take the immediate lump sum payment and end up buried on the depth chart with little exposure as opposed to being the main horse where he was already at and getting exposure as an All American and making a better draft case for himself. It means that the uniforms, um ... excite him, so to speak. I wasn't sold on the unis when they posted them on social media last week, but definitely liked them better in person. Loved the helmets, even moreso when I watched the replay and saw the metallic slime/green facemasks to go with them.

A testament to A) some of the terrible offenses we've had and B) when we've had good offenses, they've typically been deeper on talent and better about spreading the ball. Atkins has been the only consistent receiving threat this year, the others have shown up in bursts.

One of the very few good things Charlie Strong did here was remaining adamant about Athletics not using that logo. Allegedly he was a big reason that the Merrill Lynch logo was only going to be for the academic side of the university.

JFC I'd bet money these aren't there every day jerseys. It's a one-off alternate. Probably why it's also in gold instead of green (which is the one change I'd make). Y'all act like we're full-sail changing the university because of these uniforms. Now all your degrees don't mean anything because the basketball team is wearing an alternate uni that says Tampa Bay on it. I get it though, half of this board is still stuck in the past and hates change or anything new, exhibited by the visceral reaction to anything new.

I understood what you're saying perfectly. My point has been that, to us, those teams are a step up, sure. And maybe some small step up in stature to the media (but not much as we've already seen). My point has been, to the casual fans which we need to persuade to come out to games and start paying attention, Oregon State, Wazzou, and most of what would be in the new Pac 12 doesn't move the needle *that much more* that it would necessarily be prudent to leap gung ho into a conference which will likely end up with a marginally better media payout, but also have a far increased travel budget. This is my point. Unless those teams are ranked, the casual fan increase at home games will be marginal when bringing in West Coast teams. Air Force possibly being the one main exception solely for the MacDill tie-in.

That's where I stand. As I'm sure a lot of folks on this board do. Because we're the diehards. We're the ones that survived the Strong/CJS era. We're just here to watch our Bulls kick someone's a$$, whoever it has to be.
