  1. Sadly I am dwelling on our present, if we see tangible results I will have hope towards the future but not simply have hope for the sake of it. At current cwt is in every statistical measure the worst coach in usf history. He's also the only Coach to walk into a complete disaster of a program not equipped to compete at their current level of competition. CJL got to build the program from scratch which was truly unique and Holtz walked into a great situations that CJL built and burned the whole **** thing to the ground. CWT will get one possibly two more years but at the very least he's significantly improved the talent level of this team. You can't win games without talent and the fact that he's restocking the cupboard is definitely something that should give you hope for the future with or without CWT. It's like a guy had this great car that he rebuilt over the years and it was coming all together and right as he was about to get it right where he wanted he got divorced and had to sell the car. The kid who bought it ragged the car out never changed the oil or did any maintenance and blew the motor. That kid sold the car to the next guy who has started to rebuild that engine piece by piece but he still doesn't have all the parts he needs to get it up and running again. You say patience is for losers but nothing that is built to last is built in such a short period of time. Look at how long it took CJL to get us close to being a truly successful level (he didn't get us there thought we have never won a conference title). Holtz pretty much burned the whole **** thing to the ground and expecting a program with our limitations (money, donors, fan base) to get it turned around in just two seasons is completely unrealistic. Sorry but this excuse wouldn't fall on such deaf ears if we didn't hear the same excuses by the Holtz supportersand every time his guys came in we got worse. Also holtz took leavitt a guys and did well that first year. Cwt took Holtz's team and found new definitions for ineptness. I don't think my expectations are unreasonable I think if cwt is a great coach he should have won at least one more game than holtz 4-8 and this year go 6-6 that's slow incremental progress you can get behind. Instead we went backwards and are now hoping to be where he should have been in year one. You can't behind 6-6? You are a piss poor fan. I said that was my expectations for him in year two so yes I can get behind that. He walked into a 3-9 team so progress should be 4-8 but instead he digressed. One would also expect to continue the progression in year two so I feel 6-6 would be reasonable for where he started and show the progress required for the job. Right now it looks like we will finish where he should have ended year one but if he gets to 6-6 I will be dancing in the streets, singing his praises and telling everyone that I was wrong with great joy. Its not surprising to me that we went 2 - 10 last year. I was hoping for better but we lost 14 out of 22 starters and 23 players from that 2012 team. That was one of the reasons Holtz was let go after his third season, we had a lot of schollies available, nobody thought Holtz was going to get better and we didn't want to hobble a new coach with a lot of poor recruits. CWT has recruited much better talent, there are a number of frosh, redshirt frosh and sophomores playing. When you have inexperienced players going against experienced players you are going to get some bumps. Quite frankly there was only one game where we did not compete (and one where we just wore out because of lack of depth). The record may not show the way you want but the classic pattern of a rebuilding team is showing. First year you get beat, usually badly, second year you continue to lose but you lose close, third year you obtain a winning record and win those close games you lost the previous year, and fourth year you compete for the title. I have not seen anything that indicates that we are not following that pattern. Just think about it, we are one blocked punt from 3 - 2 instead of 2 - 3, this program is getting better and I think we will win more this season. Do I expect 6 - 6, no, but that isn't the goal for a second season during a rebuild. The goal this year is to be in every game and have a chance to win, next year the winning should come. This is not a our guys competed and kudos to them, its more these guys are learning how to win. That's what I'm seeing perhaps you are suffering from the I want it now syndrome? Two year turnarounds are rare and usually happen to teams with superior talent, that's not the case here.
  2. Can you imagine how he good he will be after playing with Thor for a year.
  3. Not so sure that this is a comment on us or on bad the conference is.
  4. Not the calls so much but there were a large number of questionable spots.
  5. D has to take some of the blame here, they didn't make the stops when they had the chance, mostly because of penalties. Wisky scored on all second half possessions except the last.
  6. The Good - Defense was tough in the first half, Kicking game was good. The Bad - Defense did not adjust in second half and couldn't get off the field, inconsistent blocking The Ugly - Dropped passes, very costly penalties In Sum this team looks a bit like the 2004 team, lots of talent but not ready for prime time. Can stick with anyone for a half but not enough to play the entire game. If the team continues to show the improvement they have so far this year a bowl game is possible.
  7. Not being able to get the ball in from the one inch line is a bit on the push from the O-line but Uconn also sold out to stop the run. They had 9 in the box and the LBs were almost on the line. A play action pass would have been wide open.
  8. I'm bringing a vacuum to the game. It will be easier to pick up the pieces after they break us into tiny little bits.
  9. I propose a new rule, whenever the ref calls us UCF the TO doesn't get charged to the team.
  10. The Good - USF run defense, White was accurate, Oline blocked better The Bad - Coaching, especially on offense, settled into the run game too much and did not take advantage of very good field position in the second quarter, should ahve put that game away early The Ugly - The dropped passes, lack of pass defense when needed in the 4th to close out the game Been a long time since USF out manned another team but tonight we did. Had some great field position and didn't take advantage of it.
  11. I thought 5 before the season today's game is depressing but the signs are still there I will revise down to 4 however.
  12. The Good - Ciabatti punted well, special teams covered punts well too. and we could run on the 3rd string D The Bad - Offensive production The Ugly everything else, especially the inability of the Defense to stop the NC ST offense Today was truly a reality check, this team is nowhere close to turning the corner. At this point we have to look for improvement over the course of the season. USF is not a bowl team this year.
  13. Might be the green uni's with the gold side panels we saw in the concept uni's. Those would look good.
  14. USF - run game punishes the wolfpack 31 - 20 - defense still gets picked apart on short routes allowing NCST to have some long drives and time of possession Mack - he goes for over 150 the rest of the team goes for about 100 Adams - USF will not need much out of the passing game, with 8 in the box though receivers will have man coverage and this week we actually catch the passes. 410 - Mostly run game but offense gets 170 - 190 in passing Overall the Wolfpack does not show a good run defense and that is USF's strength this year. Despite concentrating on stopping the run, USF gets that one more step they didn't get last week. for those of you who forgot many times last week the runners were one player from breaking it, this week they will do so. I expect a couple of runs over 40 yards.
  15. That's my real question. The starting QB can go down at any time in football, so why isn't the back-up taking 10 - 15% of the reps with the first team? Prepare him just in case.
  16. Harlan is working on it. He has experience dealing with a large city that has a professional football team, USC, and an off- campus stadium.
  17. The Good - 4 turnovers for the defense, offense showed some life The Bad - Very inconsistent play on both sides of the ball, Maryland stopped themselves as much as we did. The Ugly - Special teams, bad snap, blocked punt and gave up some serious return yardage Prognosis: Bulls are better than last year but still in need of serious improvement
  18. Matte only works well with certain colors, gold is not one of them. Just look at paint on the wall to get a good idea of matte looks like. I have never seen a good looking gold in matte. Green though does look good in matte so the green helmets might look very good. Won't know until we actually see them on the field.
  19. The Good: Great performance from Marlon Mack, he carried the offense tonight. Defense played well when they showed some passion The Bad: USF pass defense, most of the night the defense looked lost The Ugly: White just about every pass was off target, especially in the first half.
  20. Thought he had a shot there but kicker is the most competitive position in football. Each team carries only one so there are only 3 - 4 spots open per year. Hopefully he gets picked up but not likely.
  21. The purpose of defense is to prevent scores. So let's hope that the offense is less defensively minded.
  22. Those chicks on the far left/right need some major work...ugh. You need glasses the far right and left are dudes.
  23. I think it will be Bench. White has been better in practice but it hasn't translated into game performance (spring). Bench not as good in practice but was much better in game (spring). I think the scrimmage on Saturday is the key to the starter and it will be announced on Monday, after CWT has time to review the "tapes".
  24. CWT says he will name a starter at QB this week. Who will it be?
  25. The NCAA adopted new governing rules for Division 1.
