  1. I assume we all know that the most likely explanation is that the inconsistent messages are just USF doing USF things. But a hire now would be, I agree, shocking and very un-USF like. Gotta dump a few million into a search firm first, right?
  2. This was my first thought. Was the first statement wrong or does this mean we already have a hire? The latter seems impossible unless they are moving at a breakneck pace (which may not be a bad idea).
  3. It is burned into my memory. On College Gameday before our game against Louisville, they didn't even mention our game and were already looking ahead to "undefeated Louisville's" schedule the rest of the season. We ended up crushing them. One of the most fun USF games I've ever been to. Those were the days when we were just happy to win.
  4. To come out in a press conference on signing day and talk about the lack of an IPF hurting recruiting... wow. I mean, it might be true, but it's just weird timing and feels a lot like an excuse. I truly want Strong to be successful here but I can't say I'm feeling super confident lately.
  5. You're right on the S&C coach primarily handling the training programs. I'll grant that I'm not familiar with the nuances of that, but I assumed that position coaches would be involved, especially with skill-focused stuff. And I get that there's not that many kids left to sign, it just sounds weird. If you have all the guys locked up or close, why wait to make your coaching hires? Maybe there's a handshake agreement to wait until after signing day, but hasn't conventional wisdom always been to get coaches signed up as soon as possible to help lock people down? I can't think of a situation where I've seen coaches intentionally wait for after signing day to leave a school, though I'm sure it may have happened. Bowl game, sure. Maybe there's some grand plan, it's just that their stated justification strikes me as a really weird reason for waiting to make coaching hires.
  6. It is mind boggling to me that they haven't filled out the rest of the staff, and appear to be content to not even attempt to do so. Doesn't more staff help to "finish the recruiting?" What about getting the new kids set up with training programs, etc.? I don't get this at all.
  7. I'm very skeptical, but it's not like we are in a position to be turning away money from donors who also support another school.
  8. Really hate to see that, for him and for their team. Hope he heals fast.
  9. Oladokun has no ability to go through his progressions. He’s just staring at one spot and then throwing the ball to that spot several seconds later. Yikes.
  10. Rutgers '07, I don't know how anything else could come close.
  11. Wow. Charlie's been a big part of this board for a long time. RIP fellow Bull.
  12. Two catastrophic hires that were 100% in his wheelhouse, and the team is currently still in the basement under the third. I'm not saying they won't turn it around, or that this is a bad renewal, but I think it's insane to act like his basketball moves have been solid. You can want the guy renewed and still be honest about that...
  13. Dukes moved back to WR for yesterday's practice per Tom Zebold
  14. That, or that Dukes just isn't able to catch the ball. Kind of a bummer--he seemed like he could really be an impact player at WR, and we've had too few of those over our history.
  15. Our starting left tackle last season was a converted defensive lineman. If that isn't persuasive evidence that this can work, I don't know what is.
  16. I think that's a bit of an oversimplification. These two position swaps are probably the easier to make out of any potential move. Plus both these guys actually seem pretty well suited to their new position. We've had guys before move to the other side of the ball and really excel.
